General punto gt- option for steel wheels???

did the punto gt ever have the option for having steel wheels to make the car cheaper?

on ebay there is a punto gt with steel wheels, so i thought thats strange? and emailed the seller saying- where are the alloys?-

he replyed-

Hi they were on when i bought the car but saying that it was an option to buy a gt with steel wheels Thanx for the interest

i replyed-

no was never an option, does the car scrape with them on? and what size are they? i didnt think there were enough room under steel wheels for the brake calipers?

YES IT WAS AN OPTION, I HAVE WORKED FOR FIAT FOR 14 YEAR AND USED TO PDI
THESE , NO DOES NOT SCRAPE THEY ARE 165/70/14

that come standard or do i want to pay for steelies.....

i can guarantee that there was NO option to have steel wheels with the GT. i
know my fiats, do you have a collection of fiat gear? nearly everything ever
made to do with fiat?

just gone through my punto accessories brochure and my options booklet and i cant see any where steel wheels? only thing slightly similar are a set of 14" hub caps for 14" steel wheels.

Steel wheels wont have been a option when alloys std surely they wouldnt want to tarnish the punto range flagship model by fitting steelies, heck even sportings had same silver alloys after the horrid ones

perhaps alloys were fitted at the dealers?
know from a land rover driving work mate that land rovers(did) come with steel wheels from the factory and were fitted with alloys at the dealers even when it was standard fit.
only know that as he bought 2 sets of steel wheels for a few quid as they had spares.

It would be a great "sleeper" though wouldn't it? a car on steel wheels obviously can't be fast... like the clio with the 1.8T engine...

If i bought it i'd have to get some black bumpers to go on it...

there was a bronze clio at york year back with nitrous and a clio sport 2litre engine in it, black bumpers and steelies, it actually got away in the wrong class on its first run had diesel badges too
