Hi, I've just purchased a 98 gt with a few mods and need some help/advice from people in the know.
Def mods are ....front mount cooler , decat system..induction...coilovers...grooved discs...boost gauge...blow off valve...bleed boost valve...t25 garrett.
Claimed mods (no sure proof) cammed...chip/remap.
I have removed the blow off valve as too noisey! And the bleed/boost controller. Now my issue is it is boosting at 18psi is this normal for the mods? Or safe? Also I'm unsure as to the vacuum pipes there is a pipe coming from near the turbo that is blocked off with a screw so presume it shoulnt be like this? It isn't the actuator pipe as that is still connected to the persburg valve and actuator, the other pipe attached to the persburg comes from near the opposite wing from a three way outlet? Should I reconnect the boost valve and try to set up?
The car runs fine I just want it to be right! And prevent any possible damage! I Like the car and should be nice with some tlc. It also had quite huge lag I presume from small engine/big turbo?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The lag will be much greater with the BOV removed (and there is some possibility of turbine damage). If you don't like the noise, get a re-circulating type valve (dumps to induction, rather than to air). In the meantime, put it back.

I'd re-connect the boost controller for now, too. Mechanical ones are pretty horrible -- get an electronic one like the Greedy.

Above all, take it to a RR with turbo experience for a check over (and advice) before doing much else.

Ok I see, thanks for the advise.
I didn't know it should need a bov, wouldn't they be fitted factory standard if this was the case?
If I reconnect the boost controller what should it be ajusted to? Psi?
My aftermarket boost gauge doesn't seem to agree with factory gauge, as the aftermarket can hit 20psi if I floor it and hold anything from 14-16 depending on gear etc..yet the factory gauge hits the 1.6 red line and holds just over halfway line??
Thanks

I think thhere would have been either a blow off or re-circulating valve in there originally. Most OE set ups use the recirculating type because of the noise and because a BOV can effect the fuel metering with MAF set ups.

Could well be that the differences in the guages is down to where they take the reading from.

15psi max should be adequate!

Yeah maybe, I can't find where the factory gauge is plumbed in but aftermarket is plumbed in the side of the inlet housing.
Just so I understand is 12 Psi around 1-bar?
As I believe standard is 0.8bar so would be around 10psi.
Thanks again
