General punto engine into a seicento!?

i just talkin in general m8 - i live in a world where numbers are everything and if i can push that extra bit and make it a 1.3 instead of a 1.25 then so be it ;)

and i don't even know what bored/stroked is - but how much is it and where can i get it :D

i want more power outta my baby but have no money and have never worked on an engine b4 - what can i do? where can i get it? and how much will it be?

Replacement panel filter or induction kit - £30 to £200 gives a bit more. Zorst - back box only is a bit of a boost too, but a full system is even better - £80 to £500. Chip - £250 or so smooths out the power curve and gives a useful boost. Plugs & leads seem to aid smoothness only, no real power gains.
1242 - about 25% extra torque, very flexible engine compared to the 1108. I paid £150 for mine. (23k miler)

£80 will get you a back box only.

The thing is, you can spend £750+ getting an 1108 to the same spec as a standard 1242 lump, and you'd end up with something less reliable and quite possibly a bit difficult to get through an emissions test.

p.s. if anyone needs an 1108 engine........

looks like i really need to get my thinking cap on for this - some of us being a fair bit younger than some other can't really afford to mention to insurance companies that we have replaced our engine, i'll have a look at some back boxes and some full systems thru the week, but currently i have my spoiler on order and a debadge and spray in mind, after that a nice set of wheels is on my list, then we are definatly at the exhaust stage and it will be a must. altho these are quite tempting http://www.needforspeed.co.uk/pages/sbv_pl.asp?Vehicle=FTSEI01&PartType=CSW01

one day we will all decide that we don't need money anymore and all this s**t will be free

in the mean time i better get a job ;)

Do the engine first, then exhaust, then when it's all done get it chipped last. Never had a custom made exhaust, so couldn't really say. Anyone got any recommendations?

Don't forget you'll need the gearbox and probably driveshafts too. Might even need hubs...... then there's the ecu as well seeing as you're starting from an 899.

Exhaust wise try Longlife exhausts
www.exhausts.uk.com
had a custom one made up with 2x3" slash tailpies, excellent workmanship and gave me a courtesy car so i did'nt have to wait around :).
Its all made in stainless steel so it will never rust, cost a fair bit tho, £460 for a cat back system [:0]
Normally around £300 for a normal, single backbox system.

NOTE: They use a grade higher stainless steel than Powerflow do, so in a few years the powerflow exhaust will tarnish (which kinds of looks like rust) and the Longlife wont.

Well I've got a 1.2(8 valve) already and need more power! Like a lot of you guys I'm 18 and paying 700 quid in my dads name for a 2001 so big engine swaps are out of the question. Does anybody know the best way to get a bit more power from this block?

Cheers.

as pete said earlier - this pretty much goes for any engine

does the sei = the italian shetland pony?
and the stilo = the fat assed italian mamma making the pasta?

Hi,

what I don't understand with all the engine swap (unfortunately this is impossible here in Germany, stupid rules!!) .... why do you go for a Punto 60 Engine instead for the 75 version (Punto 1 1.25l 8V)?
+15 bhp for the same job
What can you tune on an engine?
- airfilter (so many different types)
- bigger throttle body (up to 38mm)
- inlet manifold
- camshaft (if anyone wants a 280degree one out of an 1.1 sporting mail me/ should fit into the 1.25 Punto Engine too)
- engine itself (better keep this stock/ too expensive)
- complete exhaust system (only backbox/ or 4in1 no cat 2" diameter)
- and then a matching chip
another cheap performance trick is to get a ca. 10% shorter 5th gear (helps alot)
a (relatively cheap) source here in germany would be www.bielstein.com

I think the punto 75 engine is MPI whereas the seicento/cinquecento are SPI.
Pain in the ass to convert properly as you would need to change the ECU, part of the loom etc.
The punto 60 engine is easy to swap over bar changing a few senders/switches and making up a custom downpipe.

Ok I can see your point.
A company in poland offered me to install an punto 75 engine for 1250Euro. Too bad this is not street legal at all over here.
Is the SPI/MPI the only difference? If not (+15bhp would be a lot for this difference) maybe you can change some parts to get some extra power.
This polish company recommended a Punto1 75 camshaft for the cinque 1.1 (I asked them for a more torquefriendly cam than my 280degree, as I'm most of the time stuck in city traffic), maybe this is an easy way to up the power ..... or .....
BTW does anyone knows how hard it is to put the 6speed gearbox in an cinque?

BTW to see what outcome costly tuning might "only" have
Novitec Carbon Airbox
34mm Trottle body
another inlet manifold
280degree camshaft
complete 4-1/ 2" / no middle silencer/ with stock cat system
chip
> 76bhp at 6250U/min
If you can go for the engine swap I would highly recommend it (as my more bhp start at 4000U/min, seldom use this area)

Cheers,
Marc
