Technical punto boot wont close unless i flip the lever on the lock.

Does anyone know why it does this, if i open it with the key and try to close it without flipping the toggle on the rh side it just bounces.

I Can open the boot with the key, but it wont close again but if i open it with the interior lever it closes.

Very odd

found the problem, who ever owned the car before me packed the barrel lock mounting screw with 3 washers on the inside of the two prongs and one on the out side which lifted it up enough for the key barrel lever the jump over the unlock latch when the key is used to open the hatch preventing the latch to return to the closed position ready to lock shut when the boot is closed again.

down side to my changing of the washers is that now I have a floppy barrel lock in the boot

I'll have a proper look at it when its not to blummin cold out there probably just needs more washers on the outside of the barrel screw.
