General Punto Abarth

General Punto Abarth

Personaly I think it wouldn't be wise to come out with the Abarth now that the air is still full of 500's dust. BEsides, the longer you wait for them, the sweeter they taste in the end ;)

I think it all kinda makes sense. AFAIK, the GP Abarth will not be available in Slovenia until June 2008. In the meantime, Italy (neighbour country) allready offers them used. I'll give our Fiat dealer a call later this afternoon, just to make sure.

Ahhh, the anticipation...:)

If fiat are in it to make money then they build 10 new abarth dealerships, why not just use the best ones already available? Also i'm sure they make more profit on cars that then sell in the UK as they are more expensive over here compared to the rest of europe.

What do you mean by "Best Dealer" its a very vauge term.....the one that sells the most cars? the one that has the less complaints? the one that makes the most money? or the one that has the potential to shift the most Abarths?

New car costs vary throughout Europe for several reasons. There is a huge difference in what it costs to get it out of the factory door and what it costs to get it in the showroom. These factors include, dealer markup, transport (by sea) and storage costs and of course Government taxes, its not the maker who sets the final price, the price is a total of all the costs involved.

Making and selling cars is a buisness and all major decisions Fiat make will be governed by potential sales-figures and ultimately profit just like any other buisness is. The cars are being made in limited numbers and there is a huge demand for them so Fiat wont sell them here if they can make more money by selling them somewhere elsewhere in the world........ and they obviously are.

If anyone has got a better theory, lets hear it.

looks like new owners are happy with them then.

I'd never spend 14-16k on a 155bhp fiat. Bear in mind for that money you could have something like a good Teg DC5. Seems stupid to me.

Its pretty much the same with every car puntokris ;) GP Abarth is nothing special here. What I was trying to say was that in Italy, they're for sale for some time now.

As for the money - I believe the starting price is around 12K (Brit. pounds...17,5 K EUR) and it tops @ 14,5K (21K EUR) with all the options included (sky-dome, nav. system, BlueMe, leather...). Its a new, modern, well equipped car and worthy of that money imho.

Personaly, I'd never give that much money for a used car ;)

iirc, I did actaully see an italian advert for an abarth GP in a thread on here some months ago...

I don't think it's worth it for the money, but then again it's worth what somebody is willing to pay.

To say you would never give that much for a used car?? I think that all depends on how much the car is to start with, how old it is and what car it is. Considering what you lose on new cars, I'd never buy a new car full stop. Waste of money completely unless exclusivity is your thing.

the vw beetle was in a whole different ball game to the abarth, the beetle had more hype around it than the 500&mini put together, hence the long wait for the rhd version's abarths hype of what it was has wained immensly hype non existent now.its been viewed by jo public for a year now.it aint even fresh looking now.a lot to do with sales success of a car is its timing on to the market fiat have missed that opportunity i my opinion(n)(n)

We didnt get the Beetle when it was launched due to overwhelming demand for it in the more lucrative LHD markets (see above). The same thing is happening with the Abarth.

You can have a LHD one right now for about £13k!
