Tuning punto 75 camshaft (866 FIRE)

i hear different things from different people about the 866, some say it does f all, some say it pushes the tourque band up by 500rpm, some say it gives more torque down low..

i need more low down torque, is it worth getting one?

It all depends on how well you install it and also the state of the engine.

If you use old shims and don't time it correctly, then don't expect miracles.

If there is significant bore wear and valve leaks on the engine, then also, don't expect miracles.

all im saying is you wont see 6bhp rise from a induction and 866cam..

the 1242's had 60bhp as standard (6bhp more than the 1108) and the cam was in them pluss another 132cc on the bore and larger valves and a larger tb...

it will give you a tad more and it will move the torque curve but you wont be seeing 60bhp from just that.

correct me if i'm wrong but i thought the P60 had the same head, valves and cam as the 1108 and that the P75 was the one with the "hot" cam and valves along with the mpi and better exhaust and ecu mapping which is why it has 75bhp ish over the 60bhp of the P60

also ryan i looked at all sorts of ways of getting the 1108 as rapid as a 1242 and unless you really want to chuck shed loads of cash at it you wont see big power figures

spec list of my 1108 at its most powerful
tricker 40mm TB
866 cam
mckritch chip
magnecor leads
4 point plugs
polished inlet and head
novitec carbon airbox and filter with cold air feed

all of this amounted to 80bhp (it was RR to prove it) alot of money for 5bhp up on a stock 1242mpi (route i have now gone)

listen to the guys on here they really know there stuff when it comes to these cars, i wish i had when i started and i could have saved £££'s and just done the 1242mpi at the start

late punto 60's had larger valves and 866 fitted as standard.

only know that because i lifted mine from a punto 60 and it came with them aswell as a few others ive done :)

Hi

Even if you only just replaced the cam with an identical cam you should plexi guage the cam bearings, and check all the clearances. With a different spec cam ditto, you will probably need to replace or move shims and may find that some shims have worn so you may need to micrometer their new thicknesses to see if they can be moved.

If the engine has done 50k miles I'd lift the head grind the valves replace springs, check bore wear etc. If you want power grind the head to the interference limit.

If the compression is low you probably need new rings.

If your cake does not have candles on it your ins company may want oodles of lucar, before they will accept engine modifications.

Washing it and waxing it on Sunday mornings is cheap.

or if the engine goes bang the 1.1 and 1.2 spi are redily available and cheap as not alot of people want them, 16v is the new way :slayer:

Hello guys, i had a Fiat Seicento S 1.1 mpi all stock with a bmc air filter in the stock box and i had a 866 cam installed on it, but when i drove it for the first time the engine light was flashing again and again and the engine was stalling until i changed it with the stock cam again. By the way, i sold it as stock and now bought a newer '02 Seicento Sporting Abarth, but i still have the 866 camshaft and want to install it on my new Sei, but this time with no problems at all! Also what does clearence and shim/reshim means? Sorry for the last dump question but my english are not very good and google translate doesn't help.. Cheers.
