why not take them to the small claims court for the value of the damage...

Then when the amount is awarded the other persons insurance company has to pay out for the amount that the court decides

Its the other persons fault, their insurance has to pay out against any action taken against them

Jim

:yeahthat: That sounds like a great idea and the berk in the Hyundai gets to pay costs on top to remind him/her to look where they are going!!

It's my worst nightmare... In terms of value to us versus insurance value these little cars are irreplaceable... If someone pranged Sparky badly I'd want a pound of flesh let alone £500!!

Hope this is resolved swiftly and painlessly... You've had enough Panda dramas this week!!...

All the best, Luke (y)

are you going to reshell it?

What does the mean

Got home this evening from Norwich and had a look at the damage.

I'm not 100% sure if the bottom of the B-pillar is just cosmetic or not :(

Just really upset.

get another panda that has a solid shell and swap all the bits over

Funny enough, I thought that was the case :(

Sounds like to much like hard work, and thats just finding one, not moving all the bits over. :(

I haven't had a look with the door open yet as I need to move the car to do that because it's up against the hedge.

Dad is going to ask a pannel beater in our village if its repairable, and for a quote.

Take it to Poland....I know great place....will be fix for max 300 pounds...and will polish rest on your Panda!! :)

BTW - not good....but not realy bad....Can be fix, but maybe to expensive for UK insuranse company :(

What a shame, looks like theyve chumfed a good door there too. I cant imagine it would be a total loss write off, maybe a catogary c, which would mean you could buy it back from the insurance company and rescue it - anything is repairable, just depends on how much you want it !
Even if its given a cat b, it could still be saved, keep your fingers crossed, and make sure youre there when the assessor looks at him, you'll be able to guage what will become of it then, without waiting for the insurance to tell you - and what ever you do dont let them collect the car to go to an assessors, if it is written off it'll make it nearly impossible to get it back - just something to bear in mind.(y)

Well I think if they try and make it a CAT B, or CAT C depending upon how we feel, we'll advise that WE will get it repaired and claim through small claims like Jim has suggested.

No way they're getting their hands on it, we've already devised a plan if she needs to be hidden. She'll just be taken to what seems to be our second Panda compound at the mo, college digs. :p

Don't know if this will help, but my 4x4 Sisley with 116k on the clock has an agreed insurance value of £1,700 at present!

Panda's have been leaping (can a Panda leap?!) up in value recently, and I would say yours was worth around £600-£700 pre accident.

You might have got considerably more if it was on an agreed value classic policy - sorry this doesn't help much, but worth considering in future. I have a £5k Fiat 127 and a £1.7k Panda Sisley fully comp, agreed value, and unlimited mileage for......... £99 :slayer: Yes really, for both!!! I didn't believe it either, but I have the docs to prove it! :)

There were cases a few years ago of Rovers being written off with minor panel damage due to the impossibility of locating new insurance approved parts (Just after Rover had gone tits up). You can't get new doors (I gather from my forays into this section.) for a Panda so they'd write it off on that if the door is not repairable as insurance garages will not use second hand parts.

Doors are still available, but need to get imported from Italy by Fiat, so they're costly. :(

Oh dear. Sounds like it's written off then.

But as Jim has suggested, legally we are entitled to repair and bill the 3rd partys insurance company are we not? Working on the basis that they've got to put us back to 'where dad was before the accident'....

....Say £700 for the car, A delay of 3 months as these cars don't come up often (Selecta, low mileage), plus upto £400-£500 to get the vehicle, say if its in Scotland, fuel there, and fuel back, plus staying over etc.

So in theiory if we could prove these costs would they have to pay them (£1200, plus what ever courtsy car costs)?

Obviously the arguement isn't there with a more common car about the distance travel cost, but you can see what I'm saying can't you?

Jon.
