Anyone had any experience with Protoxide and bought any parts from them ?

if so what did they think of there parts and service i.e postage and such ?

regards chris

Great, they were fast at emailing back and were fine to understand.

Parts are top notch!

I've never ordered from them, I'm still trying to sell my organs to raise money for parts. :p

I have emailed them though and they were responsive and helpful

What did you get from them?

Uprated clutch kit for a friend for his tjet. I had no problems with them.

Hopefully my next order with them will be for their intercooler and clutch kit for my mjet.

The reason why i ask this ,

i might be buying there pistons and con rods from protoxide , for a big project im about to undergo. but there price's are out of the question, unbelievably high.

ive found other pistons . Cp pistons but they sell no rods , which made me think is it just the pistons which need changing not the con rods , as i saw in a youtube video :

website for the Cp pistons ( will have to translate it from greek to english )unless you can understand it

http://eshop.kanteres.gr/index.php?...=102&vmcchk=1&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=53

but i then thought if im changing the pistons, i might as well change the con rods to be extra safe .

so it will run safely with a gt 25 turbo or a td04 turbo on it .;)

whats your opinion ?

Well if your going to do it you may aswell do it properly. It crosses items off the list of things that would fail if you do go ahead and go for big power.

Recently arrived a exhaust system 57mm without midle silencer/catalyst by protoxide for my 1.9MJTD KKKBV50 upgrade (230hp :yum:) . Fast shipping and looks awesome. (y)

How much did that set you back? What does it sound like fitted ?

Chris, I reckon if you're gonna do the pistons, do the rods as well. You wouldn't want one of the rods going and wrecking one of your brand new pistons, so it's best just to change the lot. Not many people have pushed the T-Jet engine very far, so nobody can really say for sure where the weak spots are.

300bhp from the 1.4 T-Jet not pushing it very far?? What would your idea of pushing it very far be?

I know of a T-Jet with those figures, was expensive to say the least lol.

I think I remember hearing that a weak spot is the cooling in cylinder 2 or something like that. Cannot remember for the life of me where I read it though.

I do agree with buying both though, as people say if its worth doing, do it properly or something like that. broken Conrod might mash more than just the 1 piston, valves etc and need a whole new engine or major rebuild. Weigh up the costs. I am pretty sure you said you have already had a major rebuild done.

Yes I think 300bhp is pushing it far. I said not many people have. I can't think of many people who have gone that far. You said you know of one, one does not constitute many in my opinion (y)

Yes your right i have had a recent rebuild already : due to my cam shaft was out of time to my crank and consequently my engine blew up .

i went to my local fiat dealer the other day as i had a problem with my window and got talking to a mechanic about my engine . he said the engine block can take 300bhp easily . he also said standard pistons were very weak i.e number 2 and number 4 piston being the weakest but nothing about the rods!

see ive been talking about mods on the forum for a while now ,i.e hybrid turbo and such , and i said i was going to do this and that , but as soon as i start researching more i find new and better stuff .

my problem is i just want more power , probably like most of the guys on the forum. but i want to do it right. i didn't bother going to get the hybrid turbo done in the end , as you can only achieve 200bhp estimate from turbo dynamics , and as my car is near to that power i might as well get the real MC COY and buy a huge turbo and get a forged engine , then at least i no its safe , as i can run figures up to 300bhp + ..

im going to be making a thread about my car and the build .

i should have the car done buy christmas , figures crossed . but money is an issue thats why it will take me about 3 months , but the outcome will be worth it !!!

Was a 500 as well, cost a bit more than the car to obtain all of that power out the engine, including a rebore to 1.5L im pretty sure. I read the build thread ages ago!

I would suggest a LSD at those power figures as well, they about £585 and then the guys from VXR forums also upgrade the gearbox bearings while doing it. I got a quote of around £1000 to do the work including all parts I will try and fish it out if your interested?

Also would love to know the cost etc of all of this as I expect I will get fairly bored and be in search of more power myself in the future lol. PM would be great and links to some parts, also who you got to do all the work.

Cheers

Tom

yer i heard that those 500's doo turn into little pocket rockets. but 1.5L going down the route of a rebore maybe a little to expensive for me , i will just see how much power i can get from the 1.4 engine ;) but safely!

yer i have looked into a LSD quaife diff , as i thought with that much power i need to be able to control it . my brother has a vxr and he put a quaife diff in his box and replaced the bearings. and OMG!! ive never new a diff could actually help that much on roundabouts it pulls you into the roundabout instead of understeering , but you let off and .....oversteer !!! ;) so you must keep the power on at all times !!lol when cornering hard !

but yes i will have to invest in an lsd but after a while of saving ! as i know it will be a must need otherwise to much torque steer and drivability will be lost !

let me know when you want the links to the websites as i have spent many hours researching so just email me and ill hook you up with a few !

Will PM my e-mail to you, the 500 took a few months to get to that power, was done by a german firm called G-Tech that you might have heard of.

They do lots of AGP mods as well, I am pretty sure 300bhp figures also. I want the diff just for the handling aspect of it tbh, spoke to a friend with an old Honda Type R, not the civic. He said its amazing and the grip increase is mental, but he did say in the wet and other conditions its like wow I have loads of grip. but if you pass that grip threshold it lets go rather quickly and out of nowhere as there is not as much end of grip feeling.

Oversteer is just the back wheels trying to overtake the front, a friend that races a lot says that you can sometimes just slightly pull up handbrake slowing the back wheels and that will cure quite a lot of it on roundabout etc. Obv silly speeds wont matter.

AGP is prone to more understeer I have found anyway, especially if your not paying attention!
