right im thinking of dropping a turbo lump into the bravo, thing is im not sure which is going to be more reliable, the 16vt or the 20vt, i know you get alot more bhp with the 20v but i dont want it to rob my wallet, which is more reliable/economical? any help would be great thanks

errrm... go buy a Coupe with the 20v Turbo already in it???

If you do a quick search.. this subject has been answered about a million times....

hgt_20v was the last person to ask, and ASH-G wrote a comprhensive list of things you need to do and consider....

unless you have a pocket full of money.. and lots of spare time... it's not an easy road to follow :(

Tommy K - Have you got the Bottle!!

but then i wouldn't be driving a bravo, and i like my bravo, i just wanted to know which is more likely to f*ck up, the 16vt or the 20vt

Mark - try asking the question on the Coupe forum chap. As I'm sure you're aware very few of us have turbo conversions so we are not as likely to know which is more reliable.

www.fccuk.org will get you to their forum chap.

you cant talk about reliability when it comes to a coupe turbo engine!!

all the people that have done it have second cars just in case :) its one of them situations

oh its like that is it, well has anyone dropped an engine that isnt made by fiat? i.e reliable? its probably been asked a million times already but i couldn't find it

As far as relaibility goes, remeber you aint buying a new car (or engine - I assume).
Bottom line is you'd be sourcing the engine and transplant parts from another car - no doubt a write off, so its mileage isn't likely to be low and its history could be questionable at best.

Some motors are reliable, whilst others models with the same engine inexplicably seem to have no end of bother. Unless you really know what you're doing and can undertake much of the conversion yourself, I think you'd be a fool to consider it, imo
