General Project Peterborough

General Project Peterborough

I think I'm blowing cobwebs out. 48mph in forth and the van sat at 55-60 mph without a struggle this morning.

My five speed Bianca did 105 and my Fantasia hovers around 95 mph (on track officer).

I think the timing may be off a bit. Even with a black box distributor the old girl feels sluggish. I'd put it down to the extra weight but I struggled to pull away from a junction in second as well.

Now the white panels look beige against the original colour. How would we feel about a Broom Yellow Panda 4x4 van?

I need to do some bodywork with it and could do with the practice before I restore the Fantasia. Broom Yellow wouldn't be original but but the time I'm finished not much of the project will be either. If project Peterborough were a restoration I wouldn't consider a colour change but it could look good against the black trim.

My favorite Fiat colour is Portofino Blue from the Fiat Coupe but I'm saving that for an "Ultimate Panda" project or 500 Abarth some time. ;-)

Yes mine will easily do 80-85 on a long stretch of non-public highway

Yes I agree, my 128k one will still get there, but it does sound like Armageddon is imminent at 85! I find 70-75 is more comfortable, but a limit of 55/60 sounds like that one with a failed HG on its trip skiing - definitely something wrong.

Beige? Bleaugh! :(

As well as a drivers side rear puncture this morning I had a thought. Maybe the engine and gearbox are fine and the reason the van is slow and thirsty is because the rear axle is knackered.

Hmmm, I need to find a rebuild kit. ;-)

When the flexihose went on my Triumph Herald it acted like a one way valve so the brakes were a little stuck on. If this is the case with the 4x4 it could explain the naf performance.

I had a Mini in BL Citron Yellow which showed up

and yes I know it is an Allegro.

My brother had a Citrine Yellow Mondeo Ghia X.

That was much better. I advanced the timing last night by about one and a half degrees and the van feels much spritelier and managed 68-ish mph. ;)
