Okay I've talked myself into putting lip trim around the van panels and drilling holes for the hinges and clasp.
This way I can keep the back seat and glass in the loft. I don't have to declare the car as a van as the panels won't be welded in place it isn't a permanent change of purpose.

Therefore the DVLA can suck themselves. :)

There's a new(er) Panda 4x4 at my local breakers. I need to know this...

...compared to this...

...to see if the rear subframe, differential and IRS set up can be fitted to the older model.

Doesn't look like there's much difference. I wonder if the diff' ratios are the same.

Just an idea. Instead of a four link set up to bin the Medieval leaf springs an IRS set up from the newer model could be cheaper and easier.

It probably won't work but I'll have the essential bits to make Guff II rear wheel drive if not. ;-)

This...

Just need to drill the holes, tack weld some brace bars, prep', prime, paint and fit (when the car turns up). :)

I didn't get to the scrap yard today to see the new(er) 4x4. I'm thinking rear wheel drive Guff now as I have an interesting engine on standby if needs be and I think the new(er) 4x4 set up will be an arse to get a fuel tank around. Obviously Peterborough needs to be practical (as it'll be a van) and load space being taken up with a fuel cell would be counter productive.

Now imagine the rear wheels covered with a set of half tracks. :)

I thought of a hybrid Panda ages ago. With a generator attached to the engine so as it ticks over it supplies charge to the batteries in the back.

I found some old Stainless Steel mesh at work. Asked and obtained a bit big enough to...

...cable tie to Guff II's tailgate and trim to fit...

...ready to fit to the 4x4 when it arrives.

I'll be chasing that up later as it's been a bit more than the two weeks planned.

The scrap yard wanted £200 for the complete newer Panda 4x4 rear end. :(

Way over budget for an experimental idea that may not have worked. Back on the shelf.

I'd need the "H" put back on my license though. :(

I had one before when I sent off for a photocard license the first time. They took my bike entitlement off and gave me Tank (tracked vehicles) instead.
