Problems with Pioneer Head Unit

Ive just fitted a Pioneer p75bt headunit to my bravo and am having some problems. It all works fine except for a problem with the memory. It seems that every time i take the key out of the ignition the headunit resets itself. When i put the key back in and turn it on, it has lost all presets, time, date and even the audio settings (fader etc). It remembers my phone details for the bluetooth function but nothing else. If i turn the unit on and off without turning the ignition off i don't have this problem.
I thought it may be because i dont have a permanent power feed to the unit and i know you can swap two wires to make the unit start on the ignition or without having to start the car. Tried this last night and it seemed to cause a short in the circuit.
Anyone know if im on the right lines or if it is something else and how it can be solved.
Cheers

Problems with Pioneer Head Unit

High i am new to this site so bare with me, i also had this problem with my pioneer head unit, the fiat red wire needs to connect with the yellow h/u wire....and the orange fiat wire is to connect with the red hu wire, this worked for me, make sure ignition is off at all times to avoid blown fuses.
Hope this helps mate.
