Technical problems with handbrake

Learning to drive in the 60's I was always taught to use the button as it relieves pressure on the ratchet when both engaging and disengaging.

Same as me Crachat, but my other car now is a Merc C220 (just an old fogeymobile ) which has a foot-operated parking brake, so no chance to "button-off" the ratchet with that!

Have to remind myself not to with the B though...
