Problems with Bravo indicator switch unit....

I don't know if anyone has experienced the same issues.....

The main headlight switch suddenly became faulty, the main beam would go on and off randomly. Had a look at the unit, but as it's a sealed unit there was very little I could do. So I ordered a spare from a breakers yard. Changed the unit and it all worked fine... but there was a strange ticking noise..... I went away for a week and when I got back I had no main beam, no wipers / washers (and randomly no fan!)... if I pushed the end of the main beam switch in I could get the wipers to work! The clicking noise was still happening if you pushed or touched any of the switch stalks, also if you moved the car!! So I checked the relays.... removal of one relay stopped the clicking! Replacing it with another relay... the clicking started again! Replacing the old switch unit stopped the clicking, gave me back my windscreen wipers and fan!!! So I rang the breakers and they sent another one.... I fitted this last night AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED!!!

I don't know what to do, I don't understand what the problem is..... any advice would be very much appreciated!

Cheers
JC

Stalks. Common problem with Fiats.
Had it with the Bravo and the Teapot.

Right, my 2nd unit from the breakers yard miraculously started working, and for a time I've had the luxury of headlights, indicators, windscreen wipers.........

......then the other morning, my indicators started randomly stopping..... and so it goes....sometimes I have nothing..... if I smack the steering column I can get a couple of flashes!! Then other times it works fine....a loose connection somewhere..... time to take it apart again!! At least I'm now pretty nifty at getting an airbag out and a steering wheel off!!

Grrrrrrr! If it wasn't for the fact that I love my little car.........

Check the yellow relay under the steering column for the indicators - I've had to wedge it out slightly with a bit of cardboard otherwise it would stop occasionally. Still squeaks instead of ticks sometimes though! Just take off the plastic shroud and it's quite obvious.

I had the same problem with the indicator stalk unit too, had no fogs, rear screen heater, main beam etc etc. Just replaced it with a second hand one and has been ok since (touch wood!)

Hope that sorts it.

I've recently had a problem with this aswell had no dip or main beam, got a new unit from Grandad on here, I now have dipped lights but when i flick the switch forward on to main beam, all the lights go out, but when I flash the lights the main beam works!

Have to find another unit unless anyone knows of an easier solution??

Does anyone know if the later stalk, with a separate 'ring' switch for the rear wipers built into the wiper stalk, is a direct replacement?

For some reason, Fiat list several part numbers for wiper stalks. Maybe that could be why some of the stalks scrap yards send people dont work.

Hmmmm.
