Hi, just got a fiat tempra and it was fine for a few months, but after it stalled whilst parked on a hill it has been difficult to start. It got gradually worse untill it won't start at all.

Have replaced the glow plugs and they're being supplied with current.

what else could be effecting this?

not sure if it needs more oil because i don't have the manual and there doesn't appear to a be min/max marks on the dipstick.

any ideas would be appreciated..

cheers, bob

take glow plugs out, with wiring attached turn ignition on,they should glow.next, need to check if fuel is reaching the cylinders.next try some bradex cold start up the butterfly whilst cranking engine.is the cold start device working?how many miles has engine done? if a lot, could have compression problems.has cam belt slipped? may need a mobile diesel mechanic.

thanks for the reply, got a friend (who is a diesel electrician) to look at it. and it turns out that the rubber washer on the bottom of the fuel filter had started leaking and letting in air. replaced the washer and it runs fine.
