Hi everyone. I just took delivery of my 500C today, but I have a small problem with getting the media player to work properly.

The music plays on one big playlist. Is there anyway I can play the music by artists and albums? I've tried with an iPod and a USB stick. The iPod seems to play all the songs in a random order while the USB stick plays them in alphabetical order.

Any advice would be much appreciated. I knew there would probably be some problems with the iPod (i don't have a media adapter), but I at least expected the USB stick to work.

Have you got all the music on your USB stick tagged correctly, like this: ARTIST/ALBUM/SONG TITLE

and remember to give each song title a track number

It's a small detail that can often be overlooked ;-)

They're all listed as artists and song title. I have around 1500 songs. Is there an easy way of numbering all of them?

Put them into folders in groups. You can then browse the folders on a USB stick. If you go into the Media Player menu on B&M, there is an option for "folders". It will then list all the folders you have with music contents. Make sure all the tracks are MP3 or WMA btw :)

I just tried that. It's still the same. I can't even seem to access a menu that would allow me to browse folders etc. If I press the menu button, I can only set it to display folders, but it doesn't actually do it; the radio display just reads "Blue&Me Media player". The track title is displayed in the dashboard though, and I can cycle through them on the steering wheel button, but not in any particular order.

It sounds to me like the folders aren't being recognised by the system. Are you sure that you have sorted all your music into folders, there not just one mass on the USB stick? If it doesn't work, Id take it to a dealer.

I'm pretty certain it's empty. I deleted the music, formated the drive and started sorting the music into folders after I read your previous post.

But I'll be taking it back to the dealer tomorrow. I just realized that the buttons for selecting songs on the radio doesn't work either, nor does the shut down button.

The power/standby button on the radio. But I just realized that it does work, I just have to press and hold it.

And thanks a lot. It works now that I realized that I have browse the menu on the dashboard display via the steering wheel buttons. I thought I was looking for the 'media player menu' in the menu selected on the radio.
Even the Ipod works without an adapter. :)

Have you tried using voice commands? I was playing around with that last night and clicked the 'windows' button on the steering wheel and said 'play bon jovi' and it changed from teh current track...to a bon jovi song! I thought that was pretty cool, so tried again with another band...and then it didn't work :-( So I'm not sure if it was fluke or not - are you supposed to be able to do that with voice controls? Does it work with either the band name or song name?

I have to say that I didn't find the b&m manual very useful - the translation was a bit clumsy in places and it wasn't very user-friendly. I know that their english is miles better than my Italian would ever be (!) but maybe because I work in marketing myself I assume that these sorts of attention to detail should be addressed!

I've tried it a few times but nothing happens. I didn't think it was possibly though. From what I understood from the manual, you're only able to select next and previous track via voice commands, not a specific track.

:yeahthat:

However, you can say "folders" which will automatically take you to the folders menu on the dash. Also works with the other options (eg. Artists, Genre...)
