last year had lots of trouble with imobilisor
sometimes need to unplug it then plug back in to start if fault light stops on.
that was ok but this year the light comes on sometimes when i'm driving and lack of power till light goes out
was happening for a few seconds but now can stop on for 30 secs at a time.
tried connecting to a diagnostic machine but for some reason it will not connect to it
going to france in 3 weeks but need this sorting.
only happened while driving this yr after i'd put battery back on but leads seem tight could be a loose wire cos it doesn't always do it
just come back from skeggy and did 100 miles before it happened.
frustrating because it's something simple but it's just finding the problem.
think i'm gunna take immobilisor off and replace with alarm system
anyone had any trouble similar to this.
it's an 02 fiat ducato 2.8jtd ci 141 riviera

Its not so simple to remove the immobiliser on a jtd you'd have to get the ecu reprogrammed, I definitely wouldn't go to france without getting the dtcs read as it could be another issue. Could be the immobiliser antenna or antenna wiring.

got diagnostic report
2 fault codes
u1600 electronic key
and 1 about foot pedal position which was told was only because of electonic key fault
removed code and didnt come back on when used pedals .
so taking it to another man next monday who is gunna look at immobilisor and go from there.

We delete U1600 codes from nearly every Ducato we work on, they come up all the time usually with no effect on vehicle. I've found that some vehicles like a slightly longer delay after key on before cranking than others, but the biggest starting fault related to the KCU is too many keys on the key ring. If the key is inserted with hinge down, then the extra weight will force the key fob downwards, moving it out of range of the pickup aerial. Remove extra keys, bottle openers, chains, kitchen sinks, etc from key ring, try to fit key hinge up.

disconnected battery for an hr to reset ecu did 180 miles at weekend no probs

just had diagnostics done again only fault code comes up is electronic key . tried key tester and it's intermittent so gunna renew the immobilisor antenna hope this works:bang:

No harm anyway, the antenna is only £20 or so from fiat from recollection, cheap fix if it works and if not you've eliminated one part of the chain anyway.

quoted me £56 for antenna £20 to fit and £40 diagnostic check

hi i've got a fiat ducato 2.8jtd motorhome and had trouble with engine for a few years but got worse.
the problem is while driving the red injector light comes on and loses revs then carries on but few times it has made us stop and pull over it just ticks over and won't rev then after 5 mins goes ok, a few times last week it came on while on tickover and started revving up wife thought it was when we went over a bump like a loose wire somewhere but i'm not sure.
the fault diagnostics come up as throttle pedal fault but did put a 2nd hand pedal in and was exactly the same, where off to france in 3 weeks and dunt want to trust it like we did last year with it getting worse.
wouls appreciate any help or thoughts :bang::bang:

Hi, had the same fault. Dealer replaced foot pedal twice thinking this was the fault, it wasn't. The fault as written some where on this forum was resistance in the wiring leading back to the ecu. The removal and soldering of a connector midway fixed it. Worse thing was I had given them a photocopy of the thread when I took the van in, they choose to dismiss it until i instead they check it after taking the van back three times. hope this helps.

Hi guys, I'm having the same problem with my 2.8jtd
When I hate to bump the injector light comes on and I lose throttle response pullover ignition on and off it comes back. Does anybody have any more information on the dodgy cables? I don't know where to look. Many thanks, Luc

Hi Lucas28,
Welcome to the Forum.

This is an old thread, and it is a long time since either of the most recent contributors last visited the forum.

I assume that your 2.8jtd is an x230 model, with VIN commencing ZFA230...... Also with reverse gear below fifth.

There have been several mentions of this faulty connector problem on this, and I think other MH forums.

As my 2.8jtd is an x244 with different wiring, I cannot be precise with the location of the faulty connector, other than to say that it is under the dashboard.

I can only suggest that you locate the cable connecting to the accelerator sensor (resistor) pack, and trace it back to the first connector under the dashboard.

Thank you very much. I really appreciate it. I will have a good look tomorrow and see if I can find the connector. As you say it's probably best to start from the actuator and work my way towards the ECU. Thank you for your reply
