My wife just took delivery of a new 500 Lounge and I've spent a happy couple of hours getting all the Blue & Me stuff set up. Everything works just fine, except for the MP3 player. When I connect a Zen Touch via USB cable, it seems to be recognised because the power comes on, just as it does when I connect to a PC. However, the manual says that what should happen next is that the playlist catalogue should be downloaded. I've sat and waited for over ten minutes, but absolutely nothing appears to be happening. If I try and play a track, I just get a voice message saying that no media is detected. Is this a problem with the Blue & Me system, or is the Zen not compatible?

Sorry cant help u with the Zen but I would suspect that rather than the B&M. Personaly I would copy all the songs u want to a cheap USB stick and use that in the car.

Thanks for the reply. I've been experimenting since my last post and I think I have the answer: Blue & Me doesn't like any file systems other than Microsoft FAT32. I've tried using Linux ext3 and Microsoft NTFS, but the only thing that is recognised by B&M is FAT32. That's not much help unless you can establish what file system is used on any MP3 player you might think of buying, but it does mean that you can use USB sticks, as long as you format them correctly before loading your music.

I had an iPod formated in a Mac. I had to:

1. Format it in a PC

2. Convert all music to MP3

3. Organise music in folders i.e use it as a storage unit

Dont know if that helps

hi just got a GP with blue and me got the handsfree workng fine with my fone, but having issues witht he mp3.

I notice from your post that you also had problems with a zen player, I have a Creative Zen Microfoto mp3 player and its the same problem the blue and me doesn't pick it up. Works fine if i use a cheap usb memory stick so I presume te issue is with the zen player which is a bugget as it has all my music on it!

so is there an easy way of getting the zen to work or better just getting a cheap memory stick?

cheers

As I mentioned in my second post, the Blue & Me system only seems to recognise the MS FAT32 file system, which the Zen doesn't use. In the end, I just copied my MP3's onto a USB memory stick which I first formatted as FAT32. Plug this into the car's USB socket and it works just fine.
