any one know the bleeding sequence for a 1.6 primera (ive checked the net)?

also read on the net loads but get loads of different stories, how do you bleed brakes properly?

nipple closed, then open, then close and move to next wheel?

nipple closed, then open and close let air out and repeat?

nipple open and pump till no more bubbles?

Thanks (y)

i followed the cinq sequence actually so was furthest

tried both open nipple, press peddle

and close nipple pump hold then open

didnt work on either occasion though. went out to it tonight tho, jumped in and pressed the brake (rock hard) started the car and it went spongey. should i have bled them with the car running?

basically, take the lid off the brake fluid resevoir, then as mentioned above, start from the wheel furthest from the cylinder, open the nipple, and have someone pump the brake pedal, its best to have a clear tube firmly on the nipple so you can see when the fluid is free from air, make sure that as you bleed the brakes, you top up the fluid in the resevoir and that it doesnt empty otherwise you'll have to start over again. When no more air is present, tighten the nipple and move on to the next closest wheel, and repeat the process. When you've finished all 4 corners top up the brake fluid to the max and replace the cap, before you go driving ensure you pump the brake pedal (it should be firm again)

another tip, if the bleed nipples are extremely tight, try gently tightening it before you loosen it.

hope this helps, james

on primera the order is front pass side, rear drivers side, front drivers side, rear pass side.

use a brake bleed hose to do it properly, the 2 man open/close method is more difficult and less reliable. a bleed hose costs £1.99 so there's no excuses for doing a bodge job.
