Ok guys ive got a problem that I can't think of any logical outcome for....

I love my music and my ICE, ive had **** loads of different set up's and installs.

Recently I had a sput of the moment thing and stripped it all out and sold it all.

Now I really miss my ICE especially now its approaching summer.
My reasons for selling it all were
* Less weight so car will move slightly faster
* Less likley to get broken into again and all stolen

Now I really want some ICE back, do I settle with one 1200W sub ( what I have left in my house) and a set of 6x9's (amped)

But dont want to run the risk of car getting done over to steal it all

Or do I Keep one sub, and get a decent set of components. My problem with components are I dont want to buy/build any door builds ( so im kinda ****ed)

I'd love to build a sweet install but then I need access to spare tyre.

Can I have your comments and advice on this guys please, and point me in the way of a logical outcome

Lose the 6x9s IMO, or if you really must have them, make them stealthy. Have the sub in a simple sealed enclosure (less volume taken up) with a simple amp in your boot and if you want to make the whole system look stock from the outside, use 2 way coaxials, amped or run off the HU. That way the only thing that'll look non stock is the HU. Tidy (y)

Cool,

Yeah I have a 12" SPLX sub left that I want to use.

What are 2 way Coaxils, they components ?

2 way coaxials are half way between components and 'normal' speakers, they have a separate tweeter mounted on top of the main cone.

What sort of amp are you gonna use for the sub?

Sling your sub and amp over the wheelarches, put in a false floor with a removeable centre section so you can get to the sapre.

Thats how I got a half decent install into the Cinq, still retained 60% bootspace, and had spare wheel access ;)

Well its a 1200W SPLX 12" sub, so I can either get hold of a 500W-800W amp or get a 4 channel one and run the 2ways of it ?

Yeah thats what ive been thinking, ive done the floor with a trap door in the centre. then I have space left and right of it, to fit a sub and amp perfectly :)

The best thing you can do to avoid getting your car done over for the ICE is to not advertise, don't pull up to your overnight parking spot Booming, allways turn the tunes right down up the road before you park and as said above keep your install as stealth as possible (y)

Sound ;) advice there... Thats exactly what i do (y) To make it easier, wire in a switch on the dash inbetween the stereos amp remote wire and the amp, that way you can kill your amp/amps with a flick of a single switch. Makes it quicker when you get caught out by a numpty by surprise

Ohh right yeah never thought of that haha, I normally just flick head unit off.... But yeah I suppose best way just isn't to advertise it

yea. Advantage of having the switch is it doesnt turn off the HU completely - so they will hear the music coming from the HU and makes it less suspiscious (if you get what you mean).

Let us know what you decide :)

Well ive already build the floor with a trap door in the middle. and already have the 12" sub.

So guess its now just a case of getting a amp.

As I have 500W 6x9's hidden on back shelf I think I would be ok with them if they were amped. So looking for one amp to run both I think!

You'll need a pokey amp to power both the sub & 6x9's. Coaxials are ok but you'll need passive crossovers for a better sound. I'd stick to the other plan of sub, components (which usually have built in crossovers) & a decent 600-800 watt 4 channel amp to power the lot. (y)

Better to buy a single amp for the Sub & another one for the 6x9's & components. Do you really need 6x9's as well as a sub  you'll get more bass but lose depth.

You connect a +ve from one channel to the -ve of another channel - effectively bridging between the 2 channels. There should be some sort of simple diagram above the speaker terminals on your amp. Ther was on my Xplod one.

Hope this helps

Well purley for sound. I mean I cant really have Components as I dont want to touch my door cards, so dont want to build anything.
