I would say the steering is very direct. One of the best on the market. What you are referring to is the "over assisted feel"
This is in the design.
Fitting fatter tyres will make it feel different but the affect will be mainly at low speed.
A smaller steering wheel has an absolute relationship with the effort but you will pay for this or lose the Airbag.
