so got this multipla jtd (privat sale) and on the way home got the engine light on and limp mode.
unpluged the air mas and away agane up to 3000rpm no problem, any thing over and ....limp mode and light.
i have had this now for 2 year and beeing bog poor never fixed it but reacently have started to try.
so far its had 2 air mass sensors which reealy drops the power.
if i unplug the air mass i get power up to 3000/3500 rpm then engine light and beeeping, I have noticed that if i keep my foot pressed hard in to the italian axminster and rev to 6/7000 the light goes back off??? and all is normal.
could it be the map sensor?
checked the turbo veriable vane thing today and its free any suggestions appriciated,
i have a basic code reader but it never showes a code
starting to feel like:bang:

never leaves a code and i already cleaned and checked the egr, droped one of the gaskets down the back of the engine and it took longer to find than the rest of the job

Hello Multipla 1.9jtd cuts out or goes into limp mode over 3000 revs, sometimes sooner if going up hill. Fitted a new lift pump, high pressure pump, and injectors six months ago. I have changed the fuel filter, cleaned the egr which was very clogged up,checked the turbo, air line, and boost valve. The computer tells me the fault is error code 161 ?Help regards Bill

up date: got my mirror on a stick out and was looking round the turbo and found that the vacume actuator on the turbo is damaged so now think this might have been sticking ether on or off.
after "playing" with the actuator my multipla now feels like a "allmost" proper car.
