Hi
I have owned a 500C my2014 for 7 years and had very few issues.
One of them was the bulbs in the rear lights sometimes developed bad connection in the holder. 11/2 year ago we had the running light alarm and I dismounted both rear lights and renovated with cleaning a bit grinding on center connector and new bulbs all over, one bulb for flasher was dead.
The dreaded check running lights remained on. And only with the main lights on.
All lights front and rear worked as it should, so we ignored the alarm.
Until now, as we are going to sell the car, I diceded to find the fault.
I searched the whole internet including this forum (the best;) and tried every possible solution:
New bulbs in front daylight running light
New bulbs rear running light
Check all connections clean and spray
Disconnected the battery for 2 hours
Nothing helped.
Someone mentioned rear lights should use 5/21w bulbs, which I was sure mine did not, but to be certain I decide to check the bulbs type in the owners manual….Hallelujah!!!
it stated 10w rear running light bulbs !!!
It turned out I had mounted 5w bulbs 11/2 year ago, as all the cars I have ever owned + motorcycles + trailers has ALWAYS used 5w bulbs for this purpose.
I mounted new 10w bulbs and yes the alarm is gone 😂😂😂
Hope it helps some Fiat owners
Regards Otto
