hi, my accelerator pedal keeps on sticking all the time whilst am driving. it happens ever time i take my foot off the pedal. i know its not the pedal itself, its the actual accelerator housing inside the engine. i have noticed that some sort of screw is missing and after looking on the net i think its a stop screw or something. where can i get another one please and what do i need to put in ?? just a screw or is something else missing.

p.s. i drive an S reg bravo GT

When you look under your gas pedal, there should be a screw with a big head on the under side of the pedal. If it aint there you have to put a screw there - if I remeber right its a common metric thread 6 or 8 mm.
Adjust it and that will solve the problm.
The pedal will then go up normal, because you now strain the spring in the gas pedal potentiometer

idle stop screw missing

hi and thanks, i will look at the under side of the pedal. i am sure that this bolt already exists and is ok, it is the other end of the cable that is connected to the engine side i know is sticking. when i have the bonnet (hood) open i can move the accelerator hammer with my fingers and the engine revs ok. when i let go the hammer the engine idles ok but the hammer sticks somehow and i have to jerk it to move it to make the engine rev again. there is a screw missing from the that engine area and i know this is making it stick. once again its not the pedal area, its the cog wheel area in the engine where the cable connects that sticking..

help please.

p.s. fingers are sore now with all this typing !!

idle stop screw missing

yes am pretty sure its sticking closed. every time i drive the car the pedal sticks in the top position. when i press the pedal for the car to drive i have to jerk it hard to dislodge it and it works like normal. it is when i take my foot off the pedal that it sticks again !! and i have to jerk it hard again for it to move. i know its not the pedal thats sticking but i am sure its the other end of the cable which is connected to the accelerator cog wheel in the engine. as i said i have been under the bonnet and with my hand i have rocked the cog wheel back and forth. if i let it go the spring retracts to the normal position and it sticks here till i jerk it hard to dislodge it. it looks like a small screw is missing to keep the cog wheel from retracting fully!!! its the best i can describe it...

thanks
