Hi guys

Im a newbie here,

just bought my first ever Fiat punto grande 57 plate.

Basically....Ive took the standard CD player/head unit out the punto and put the one from my old car (renault clio) in the punto.

The head unit is Alpine CDE-9850Ri and I also have the Ipod connection KCA-420i unit.

The sound quality seems awful now, it was loads better in the Clio.

I have to have the Bass on - 0 and treble on 7 to get a half decent sound and I cant turn it up loud like I used to be able to. I used to go to about volume limit 20, now I can only go to volume limit 16 ?

Advice pls?

Thanks

i'm not the expert here (he's already commented), but i had the same sort of situation putting my cd player from my punto into a 106, i always thought that it could just be the speakers?

thanks guys

Is it going to be the speakers then or turning the treble down to 0?
surely that makes the sound a bit wierd.

anyone suggest a speaker upgrade then?
:)

Why would turning the treble down make it sound weird? If you are geting screaming trebly sound now then it will just tone the sound down allowing you to even out the levels and use more volume on the HU.

As for speakers it will be difficult to improve without an amp so what budget do you have.

oh i see. what it is at the moment, is the bass level. It sounds like the bass is on 10 when its on 0.
the sound treble wise - is normal. its just distorted with bass which means i cant turn it up at all.

i have no budget at the minute lol. But when I do I will have a look round and ask some questions

:)

Are you only using the ipod? Have you used higher compressed MP3's? MP3 will drop some treble and more if its highly compressed. Also many HU's have a setting to change the level of correction on the input of external MP3 players. Has this been changed.

errrrm, im not sure.

I have had a play with the settings. the ipod goes to the alpine i pod unit, then straight into the HU.
As far as i can see , its not being classed as an auxillary input because of the unit. Theres no other settings to be changed as far as I can see....

....maybe blame me being female :-(

Well there are a lot of complex and hidden settings for an ipod input on my Pioneer unit. These settings have no gender preference, they are just damn right complex to understand for anybody tbh.

well....

i shall try and get a pro onto it then!
not got a handbook for anything so that doesnt help, will have a float around the net to see if theres anything i can do, unless theres someone from the nottm area? lol
