for you guys who've been trying to make your own, or get Tom to do it, i'm told Apiro are doing a range of pipes. D

etails at www.apiroautostyle.com

(now i'm looking at the grounding kit, and nice gold power connectors for my amp cabling)

What diameter is your Tom, and what filter are you using?

Is the piperX cone better than these BMC/CDA carbon filters that everyone raves about?
Was yours very expensive?

Cheers.

they are not as good as the CDA because the cda is an eclosed filter, so it only sucks in cold air! not hot air from the engine...

The colder the air the more dense it is, the more dense theair the more powerful the combustion hence improved power, they also increses airflow to something stupid like 99%... i have just bought one of these and i have done my homework :) most air filters especially open air filters have no increase in performance, just noise!

An idea i had, was to put the original airfilter box back in (with my new PiperX filter inside), and cut a hole in the front for a cold air feed pipe.

Would this perform any better?

Usually the lack of power inrease is cos they are not installed correctly or cos original induction system was designed well.

An enclosed filter will be easier to provide with cold air and you can mount them closer to the engine whereas you need to mount an open filter some way away.

i would have thought so in theory, but i am sure there is more thought envolved then that... i suppose ther eis no harm in trying!
