Pointless Mods!

Hey, my Mate has just bought a JVC KD-AVX1 DVD Tuner, for those who dont know, this head unit has a dvd player in it, it also has a built in screen! sounds cool but it's 3 inches... yes! you heard me 3 inches... ok so maybe the idea of listening to music dvd's with the video's playing is cool, but for £600 youd expect a bit more... anyway, so he's bought this head unit and tells me he's going to attatch a PS2 to it... how can you possibly play a ps2 game on a 3 inch screen! Grrrrr

maybe i'm just jealous that i dont have that much money to just chuck in to a head unit... someone tell me that i'm not overreacting, and that this is perhaps the most pointless mod ever!
if not, write down more pointless mods you've seen done/done yourself!

With that head unit you can attach another screen, so maybe useful for passengers if you fitted another screen in the headrest

PS2 on a 3 inch screen I agree pointless.
While in America recently they had a watch that had a tv on it, about as useful,couldn't make it out at all

Not a big fan of screens / dvd players etc in a car. I want every available volt to power my head unit and amps.

i have this HU and cant fault it, you get bored flick the switch to what eva angle you want it and watch it, it is very high quality pic and kills the time while waiting to pik the missus up unless you turn up half an hour late

Sounds pretty pointless as screens go, plus for £600 could of got the same as mine

There are merits to it, but only if youre running more than one screen. You can run menu's etc on the HU screen whilst watching a movie on another screen which is useful.

You can get sunblinds with built in screens... they go quite cheap on ebay...

As for PS2 on that screen, I agree - pointless.

i almost bought that one But online you can get it for £400 tops (and that was about 4 months ago when just released!)

But as whats been said, they have video out and can come in handy with the built in DVD capabilities - which also allows you to burn a DVD with mp3's on...

Yeah he did, but he works there so it was an ex display for about half the price, on top of a discount...

one other feature the HU has is the ability to read dvd mp3 discs so you can have 4.7gigs of music on one disc.i liked the little screen as a 'bonus' to a main screenyou would more than likely be fitting

Could have got a Pioneer AVH series player for that much with a bigger screen and probably more features with better sound and prettier

Same unit in my local audio shop is £380

Why the hell would he have bought it out of halfords if he works there he shoulda known just how much they rip people off!

But there actually pretty good units. And the screen for the size is rather nice in quality terms but i myself dont see the point of such a small screen.

the screen is a good little bonus to the HU, its colourful easy to navigate can have pics played on it, is a face off so is less likely to get nicked, can play anything on it, whats not to like?

£300 for a HU that plays everything and has some excellent features seems a good price to me, i payed £300 for a kenwood dvd HU that didnt play mp3's ect, so im happy
