Pods in A-Pillar update with pics

update on my a pillar fibreglassing.

well as u can see i had to cut the pillar and the fibre glass.... the bright red is pure resin cos basically i bend it and cracked it also some where in there there is a bunch of p40.... its now sold tho

as u can see my workmanship skill arent the best. but im happy to give most things ago...

after this had set. hard... (2 days) i thought i best add a light skim if p38. :S this went wrong as u can see. lol

i applied way to much and have had to use p40 SAND paper to take most off. im taking loads off but afterwards it will be smooth as

Plenty of sanding dude and im sure you will be able to get it how you want it...

As Allan has said, take care putting it back in, when you took it out it was just plastic which bent, with the fibre & filler it will crack.

yeah i always think you can always sand more off if needed lol


have you tried to put it back in once as a practise run?

those bits come out a lot easier than they go in lol


i was thinking more i'm sure i had to twist mine a bit to get them in so was worried about you cracking all ur hard work


take that to towke with you tomorrow n just make sure you can push it back in ok?

another update. i gave it another caining with 40 grit paper. after removing most the lumps and got the shape i like.. i gave it a 240 grit sand. started to get smooth BUT the 40 grit has left ditches that cars should be scared of in the filler.

whacked on a thin layer of p38 again to fill the small holes and fill the ditches...

should be sorted saturday. so spray and fitting folliwing weekend

if you got some primer laying around give it a coat of that, if your work is liek mine you will see about a thousand scrathes n pits you coudlntr see before? lol

have you tested to see if you can get it back in without bending it too much yet?

lol, yeah you have to sort of hook bottom in and push/bend it in if i remember right!

put mineback in whendash wasnt bolted in so was a bit easier!

good luck not cracking them putt them in
