Hi everyone, I have got a Fiat Bravo s R reg, lately i find it hard selecting gears, when i try putting it into any gear, its very hard to get in, but when it eventually gets in, it makes a crunching sound that i have to put it back into neutral, but when i turn the car off, and i put it in gear, it goes in with no problems, what do you guys think might be causing the problem?

sounds to me like a clutch related issue, be it the clutch itself or the clutch slave cylinder thats ontop of the gearbox. have a look ontop of the box, under the battery tray and you will see a cylinder with a plunger pushing onto a lever coming out from the gearbox, see if there is any oily type liquid on the box

But the clutch feels alright, i will go have a look though.

check your brake fluid level, if its low it means the clutch is leaking (they share the same fluid reservoir) its a common problem.

alternatively your clutch may be worn. if the milage is over 90k and its still on the original clutch then it may be time to get a new clutch
