Hi Fiat Forum people

I'd appreciate your help with valuing my car to sell, as I don't want to rip anyone off. Here are the cliff notes:

  • 06 plate 1.2l 8v Punto in blue
  • Decent bodywork, few minor scratches and blemishes
  • 69k miles
  • 1 owner prior to me
  • History to around 50k miles
  • New ECU and coil packs at 62k miles after the dreaded EML fault
  • MOT till December 2014
  • Tax end of this month

Here's the problem. A couple of days ago the Mrs, the main driver, noticed what she described as a "growl" in 1st and 2nd. I drove it and there is a definite noise in those gears once you start going.

The noise seems to disappear in 3rd and above. However, today I drove it and while driving I thought I'd see if I could see where the noise was coming from. Pushing the clutch in makes no noise at all, but putting it in 1st while moving (clutch pressed down) makes a whining noise so I am assuming the gearbox is poorly.

We've just bought a new, non-fiat car without part-exing this as we were originally going to keep it. The garage we bought from says tey'll send it to auction for us but I feel they'll not get much for it. I don't want to sell on autotrader with an unfair price and pretend the gearbox problem isn't there because I'm just not like that.

What would be a fair price to pitch somewhere? I'm completely lost to be honest, help please!

New ECU at 62k..... thats got me worried there....

If your selling it - i wouldnt tell them personally

What hasn't been serviced correctly?

Tax - id wack 6months on personally :)

i would have thought 1,500 - 2,000

But there is alot that i cant tell as well
It'd also be worthwhile going onto autotrader and see what others in similare conditions go for

A car is only 'worth what someone is willing to pay for it,

Price it slightly higher than you want for it, every or most punter likes to
haggle, if they carnt knock 50-60 quid off they will shop else where,

plenty of punto's out there, 100s for sale so compare prices and price it
reasonably to bring in a buyer,

spend aday making it clean & tidy before advertising it,
