Hey,

Just bought some new speakers 300W each for my punto mk2, i previously had some 350W each speakers however the bass is not working, i have altered all the controls on my cd player in order to get bass but it doesnt work when they are working together, however when i balance it on one speaker by itself its fine and works perfectly, does anyone know why they dont work to that efficiency when it is not balanced on one speaker?

Steve

But they cant be because they are less watts than the previous speakers, the new speakers are Mutant NW69SPX 600w, but i dont understand how it worked fine with my other speakers and then suddenly went dodgy, so i bought new speakers and only works properly when i balance it onto one speaker regardless of what side.

Steve

I dont understand why it is capable to play it fine on one speaker tho, then when you take all balance off and play on both speakers the bass seems really fuzzy, who would be the best person to talk to about them? because i dont think halfords would help me out?

My friend, dare I call him that, has a saxo and he installed 6x9's on his parcel shelf. And he had that exact problem. I'll ask him how he got around it for you

Sounds like the HU's internal amp could have gone squiffy. I think the wiring harnesses are less likely to be the culprit as both work OK when the sound is faded from side to side.

Another possibility is one speaker being out of acoustic phase, which could give the impression of fuzzy bass/midbass. However, since the problem appeared without you doing anything to the speakers, I don't think this is the problem.

Yes, the internal amp will share its power between the two speakers, which may be insufficient, however when you move the balance over to only one speaker the amp is putting more power to that speaker. So it seems it is one of two problems. The headunits internal amp is dying, giving out less power or the speakers are too highly rated for the HU. They may need an external amp.

By the way why have you made two threads asking all the same questions?
