Re: Head Unit Issue

I believe Pioneer do not provide removal keys with their products. However, you do need to remove the cage, using some cutlery is usually my choice :p so that you can put the cage into the facia and bend the little prongs so that it stays in place. Put the dash together, then slide the HU in untill it clicks into place. IIRC some Pioneers have a little grub screw with them aswell so that the HU cannot be removed from the cage unless the screw is undone first.

Re: Head Unit Issue

I have a pioneer and it has keys. They can be bought from Halfords, ebay and such like. Then you can release the cahe slot it in and bend the retaining point back to stop those twocers from running away with your hard earned.
If you are not confident with a pair of small screw drivers to release the catches then invest in some keys. Infact i have often taken cars to Halfords and asked to borrow theirs.

I have merged the threads as you are asking the same thing.

Why Is Fitting This Head Unit So Complicated

I am still having a lot of trouble fitting this head unit into my fiat punto sporting YReg. Its really bugging me because i have fitted a head unit for a friend before and it was so simple, and just seemed to work, but with mine i am having non stop issues.

I now have a facia adaptor which fits nicely into my dashboard. I also have my new head unit and the cage that it goes into (these are currently separated).

I was under the assumption that what i would now do is slide the cage into the facia, fit it to the dash, and then wire up the head unit and slide it in.

However I have met a big problem. The cage slides straight through the facia and out the other side, and so does the head unit itself. It seems the hole in the facia is too big for the head unit, but im struggling to see how this is possible because its a standard single din facia.

Can someone please explain exactly what i need to do. I have the facia, the cage, the headunit and the wires. This is really frustrating now.

Thanks so much

I wasnt given any useful explanation, infact my question was never answered sufficiently, I would love for you to copy and paste the answer. It is so frustrating, the genuine fiat facia adaptor I just bought is too big, and the cage just slides straight through it. So How do i stop the head unit falling straight through the facia when im driving. Please answer the question.

yeah i am putting it in the right way round, it just doesnt want to fit. Its so frustrating :(

Bite the bullet and get halfrauds or your local car audio shop to fit it for you...

Threads like this are better with pics of the problems.

Its nomrally really easy.

Take out the standard HU
Take out the cage if one was fitted
Fit the new fascia
Fit the new cage
Change the red wire in the harness to the yellow one (not always necessary)
Plug wiring, arial.
Push the headunit in until it locks in place.
Turn it on and listen to it.

It is literally a ten minute job. But from what I can figure from your posts your cage is falling through the fascia?

Well the fascia hole should be an identical size to the hole in the dash, it can't be too big. Is there a lip on the cage, there always is, this stops it falling through.

The only way it could drop through is if you fitted the cage from behind the facia the wrong way round???

Other than that you some how managed to fit a double din facia to a mk2 punto?
