Finally - after months of deliberation, I placed an order for a 1.2 Sport yesterday. Pasadoble Red, side strips, white stripe, white 5 on bonnet and ESP. Have asked the dealer to try for Interscope upgrade but not hopeful. Now I need to find an old Land Rover (90, 110 or Defender) for all the grunt tasks - that way I can keep the 500 pristine> Anyone now of one with good credentials??

Sorry - should have been a bit clearer. My missus owns a horse and we need something to tow a horse and trailer - she owns a Panda. Even hooking them both up in series, I don't think they would manage to pull a 3/4 ton of horse plus trailer
and even if they did, they definitely wouldn't stop. So we want the LR for towing purposes, trips to IKEA and B&Q etc.

It's a weight thing. With the weight of the trailer added to 700kg of horse, the weight of the towing vehicle needs to be substantial. Neither my partner nor I have any desire to drive a big 4x4 - in fact we absolutely hate them! We tried hiring one when needed but its too inconvenient and there are minimum hire periods. So we have decided to buy a cheap old Landy which we will use sparingly and keep her Panda and my new 500.
I have a 1.2 Sport 500 and a Land Rover which I will be selling soon.
Actually it's a 45 year old tax exempt series IIa. You probably wouldn't want it though as I was going to put a TDi in it before slapping a new ticket on it.
Apart from the current tired old engine, everything else is fairly well sorted including big new wheels and tyres, galvanized chassis, parabolic springs, footwells, bulkhead and door pillars, door tops etc. Some spares too including a recon rear diff and a big bore exhaust etc..
