Technical Piston number

Hi all
3ltr 2014 Ducato having injectors coded , which piston is no 1
I would assume it’s the one closest to the cam chain??
Advice appreciated

Yes correct. The one remote from the drive end, which is normally at the front in a logitudinally mounted engine. But I did have a Saab 99 with No. 1 cylinder at the rear. Clutch was at front behind radiator.
