Hi Chaps

Just a quick heads up.

The 125SR12 Cinturato tyre has now been produced again. The good news is it is now a genuine Pirelli Cinturato, no longer a Fortmula.

Contact your Fiat 500 Specialist, they will be able to supply them. However worth pointing out this picture was taken today as we unloaded the first lorry full.

In which country are the new tires made?

Pirelli is now owned by a Chinese consortium (ChemChina) , many of the tire models that were made in the past in Europe are now made in China ...

I don't know what to think about the new Pirelli cn54 but Michelin X seems to be of quality, cost just as much and last for many years.

What do you think ?

This is Tom's response from longstonetyres.co.uk:

"Thank you for your email,
The required information is below; -
125x12 Michelin X - Made in Serbia date code 2819
125x12 Pirelli Cinturato - Made in Turkey date code 1220

Both are great tires with the Pirelli having the benefit of being OE to alo of Italian cars."

Is there any technical or cosmetic difference from the "Formula" version. What is the UK RRP?

Hopefully on those pictures if you look close enough you might be able to see all the detail of the tyre. Including where it says Pirelli on the side wall which is the obvious cosmetic difference.

Also as these are now e genuine Pirelli product i would expect the quality control to be second to none, and they should be made from the best quality materials in a Pirelli factory.

The retail price is 55 Smakkers + Vodka And Tonic. And on this link:-

there are some deals on sets of tyres.

This web site https://www.cinturato.net/

lists all the international distributers of the Pirelli Collezione range. Not to mention some of the most epic 1960s advertising. The Tortoise and Hare film, involveing driving accross Europe in an e-type Jag Roadster with a record player in it and a lorry. My favourite scenes are when the truck driver has his lunch while driving the truck eating cheese, sausage and drinking a magnum of red wine, of course followed by a fag. I guess the next favourite scene is where the e-type Jag gets done by the police on the side of the motorway for stopping on the side of the road while her daughter nips off to the middle of the feild to relieve herself. They would not make an advert like that these days.

I bought a set a while back. They are meant to be tubeless. That being said, I still had new tubes put in with the original rims.
If you are using ORIGINAL Fiat 500 wheels you MUST still use tubes. The 500 was not designed for 'tubeless' tyres and therfore the wheels do not have the tyre-retention lip on them. As per previous exchanges on this Forum, it IS SAFE to put tubes into these tyres.
