I've fitted by PiperX inductions kit as per the instruction given...

Basically remove the airbox and stick the filter on the end.

I'm sure i have seen some on here where they have removed the swirl/resinator box...

Do i need to do this, will it sound better? (Its a bit quiet for me :))

I'm guessing i need to keep the 'air flow sensor' pluggy thing? Can i simply drill a hole in the induction pipe and stick it in...?

I will get a pic, that will explain it better...lol

This how it is at the moment, as per the instructions...

This is (please excuse the quick edit), how i think i should fit it...

Cut a couple of inches of the tube and fit it either side of the sensor, loosing the resinator/swirl box...

But would it sound better if it was removed?

I don't care that much for power...

Help me rule the world by clicking the following link...:)

Is there anyway i can make it sound a bit meatier?

I went for the PiperX over the Viper/Closed induction as i wanted a bit of noise...

I've heard a mouse roar louder than this filter...:(

Daz

The piperX kits are always quieter than most other kits because of the foam material they use to filter, it's quite dense. K&N are louder but don't filter as well. If you want noise put the pedal to the floor :)

Even with my foot planted, i still can't hear it...lol

It's all Tom's fault anyway, after hearing his PiperX and SS pipe ;)

Maybe some SS pipe will add a bit of beef, time to start searching again :(

The big difference with your car is the airflow meter, they absorb a bit of the sound. The 1.6 is MAP so has no flow meter. When you boot it there is just a big open pipe between the filter and the valves.

Also doesn't the 155 have variable geometry on the inlet manifold?

So there is no way to get a good sound from the filter :(

And the 155 has variable something, can't remember what though...lol

Daz

Variable Cams isn't it?! I got told by my mate that done the coupe 2.0 20V Turbo conversion that his HGT switched to a different cam set at certain revs!

Not quite, it just moves the inlet cam round a bit, same duration and lift but it opens at a different time. Its not like VTEC.

I'm pretty sure the 155 has variable inlet manifold as well as the VVC.

your best bet would be to remove your bonnet cover! that will release some more noise!

i like the muffling from it. if you wanted noise you should have bought K&N though..

I have a K&N aswell but that is also too quiet.

For some reason i thought the PiperX was louder...

Ah well, you live and learn :)

Daz

maybe you need a turbo/supercharger or something??? why do you want to make your car louder? isn't that a little chavvy ?

IMO if you are trying to make a 1.0 Nova sound like an F1, thats Chav...

I am only trying get the true tone of the 5cyl HGT, maybe i am more Chav than i think...lol

I've been searching for a uk supplier of the supercharger in the other thread, but no luck as yet :(

Daz

lol i was only kidding about putting a suppercharger on. thats alot of cash to spend for some noise. fit a casette recorder in your engine bay :)
