Hi everyone, wonder if someone might be able to help me.

I recently bought from ebay a CD player for my MK2 Uno. I took out the old standard unit and found an unsual connector on the end, luckily when i pulled some wires out I found I had an ISO connector. I plugged in the new CD player and although it all lights up I get no sound out of it.

On the ISO, on the car side, I have 4 wires for the speakers (2 speakers +/-) then I have only 3 wires on the power one, I have a ground, a 12v battery one and a 12v ignition. I plug these in along with the anetenna for the radio. Yet no sound comes out. The player and radio works fine, just no sound.

Does anyone possibly have any idea of how to make this work? If not I have to send it back and hope i get a refund. Maybe my wiring isn't enough? or wrong?

Regards
Paul Harrison

what i would do is get a speaker and run a +/- to it from the head unit to check if it is actually sending a signal.if the speaker doesnt work then it looks like your internal amp is buggered and its refund time.if you get a sound then its the wiring in the car,did they work before?to be honest it sounds like a duffer.who did you buy from on Ebay?[V]

Cheers for your reply. I "bench tested" but only with the same wiring that is in the car, i was wondering whether or not I had missed any inputs on the power connector or does it only take 3 to run it? At one point, for no reason, i got a very quiet volume of a CD I had in, it didn't work with the radio though. It sounded to me like it was just the basic signal and not amplified. Like if you plug a pair of small speakers into a non-amped device like a portable CD player, all you get is a quiet volume.

I tried running the speaker wires too all of the outputs and after this one time I got nothing. I agree with your diagnosis, just hope that when he gets it back he has the same problem. I have used my standard stereo fine the whole time but i was wondering if anybody knew that I needed an extra wire or something.

Hope he will give me a refund, I would rather not give you his name until I find the outcome, bit unfair if it is my lack of knowledge about ICE. Liklihood is he will say it works fine regardless so he has grounds to claim that I shouldn't get a full refund. Oh well, ebay is always a risk and I don't mind taking it too much.

Again, thanks for your help and a merry christmas to you and all!

the only extra power wire would be if you had an ignition live to turn the stereo on and a constant live to preserve the memory.yeah Ebay is great for bargains but you gotta be prepared for the odd bump.depends on how much you payed for it on whether its worth paying for a repair rather than a loss on refund.might be worth phoning your local ice specialist and seeing if he can give a rough quoteB)

Cheers for your help, i paid £40 inc. postage - I would rather not throw more money at it. I'll keep my eyes out for another bargain but this time try and collect!

CHeers for your help and have a good day.
