Ducato 2017:
There is ticking + pinging from dashboard area when: 1. opening the car with the remote (it doesn't stop) 2. While driving, from time to time, especially at the begining of the drive. It may stop for some time, then start again.
When starting the car the display warns of airbag problem - I wonder if it's related. Anyway the pinging happens also when the display shows nothing.
Also - when opening rear doors or when locking the car the lights flash for about a minute. This could be a seperate issue. It could also be by (a wierd) design can hear clicking and pinging

Hello,

The ticking sounds like a hazard/indicator flasher. It has a very similar frequency (+/- 99 bpm) all the time.

My first thought was if there is an alarm fitted in the van. I had a similar issue a long time ago with another car, still before the CAN era. The alarm went on when the car was parked, I didn't realize that when disabling the alarm and opening the car with the remote as the alarm siren was permanently muted for enabling/disabling, so only hazards were blinking (once / twice for enabling / disabling and more times when it was notifying a problem depending on which sensor was activated during the alarm). In full sun, in a hurry and / or especially focused thinking on other stuff it was very easy not to see that hazards blinked more than twice. I remember there was a special procedure (like pushing twice the remote button) to reset the notification. The hazards were blinking from time to time (like every 5 minutes) also while driving :D I was alerted by another driver on the street that my hazards are on...

About which lights are you talking in the end of the post?

I do not have an alarm in my Ducato, so I won't be able to check how does it work. But I'm planning to install one shortly, as someone already tried to break in to the back of the van in my new neighbourhood :(
The idea is to make it work with the original remote. I know that aftermarket parts can be fitted. But also found online the original parts :)
