Howdy all. I'm going to share this on the equivalent MG forums as well (who knew they had their own forums? :D) but thought some of you might like to see these.

Was out for one of our first Sunday excursions in the new Panda with Mrs Ontheroad when I spotted the distinctive patterns of a disguised prototype up ahead. Swung into the car park of Waitrose in Norwich behind it and found this:

It's a pre-production prototype of the UK market MG3, a long promised addition to the rather unexciting MG range. There's plenty of info out there on the original Chinese car, and even some previews of the UK spec model, but we're still a little way from an official launch.

I offered these pics to the automotive weeklies, but there was no interest, presumably because similar prototypes have been scooped earlier this year. Given I'm not going to be able to make a quick buck off them, I've uploaded them to Flickr with a Creative Commons license instead.

From the rear (and with the VX plates) I thought it might be a Vauxhall/Opel prototype - certainly sharper round the back than up front, but the overall design isn't amazing. Feels like a couple of different cars put together, if you ask me. Your thoughts?

Slightly off-topic: but I live just south of Gaydon, and we get these 'mules' all the time... -- Jags, Range Rovers, you name it.... Getting a little fed up of them, to be honest: as their drivers seem to be right numpties... -- a new (black-and-white speckled) Jag, rushing through the village at well over the speed limit, yesterday afternoon, with a blowing exhaust....

I know if I sat in the front garden long enough, I could probably make a few bob selling photographs to various places... -- but I really can't be bothered...! ;)

It would have been more effective to camouflage it by removing the checker board...
Tbf if they wanted to keep it secret they wouldn't leave it lying round with no minders in a random car park in an attention grabbing colour scheme.
