How about a nice vitamin bottle 30mm neck fits snug
Jubilee clip 25-35mm just fits
Dont worry about your airbox, it already has a couple of holes in the bottom to let water out if snorkel sucks any in.
Plus its probably 3-4 inches higher than the bottom of car , unlike vapour trap that is only just above the bottom,
That pic of a hole was in a vapour trap not an airbox.
Anyway any holes in airbox are before maf so still get measured, a leak from vapour trap joins after maf and so isnt measured, leads to problem.

Ah right I get ya (y) So I will get the vapour trap repaired or replaced, that bottle looks perfect! So if I replace it would using tie raps suffice to hold on it, like it is now? So it doesn't matter if the replacement box/bottle is smaller or bigger?

It's just trying to sort out this little niggle regarding the intermittent flat spot. The MAF is new, MAP is fine, EGR is faulty but currently blanked off and that has proved it. Clivvy has help me with the boost valve, like he said the boost solenoid valve were within parameters (40%-100%) and boost pressure the same within parameters. So I assume that is fine.....?

I really do appreciate your help sussexa, I'm all for saving money!!!!!!

That vitamin tub has very shallow lands for cap, 2 wraps of tape would give good seal or better if you can file off so smooth.
I wouldnt use ties , go for a jubilee clip.
You can remove after a few months if worried and check whats in there, probably just a little oilly coating.
Whatever you do or use make sure it cant drop back down under car, cable tie to rad hose maybe or something where it is now.

I meant a cable tie for fixing to the rad hose or whatever its attached to now. Jubilee clip to hold the hose onto the bottle!

if this doesn't sort it and clivvy is willing , and you both have the same car / hp version , then logging and comparing may be only way to find small hesitations as all actuators and parameters may look normal but one only has to hold back something else.
if the same person can drive the 2 cars the better.
probably 3rd gear as 4th takes a good road , go full throttle from say 1700 revs to 2500 revs or whatever covers your problem area and compare the data
revs
boost
maf airflow
total fuel quantity
if its noticeable something should show on yours lower than clivvy's or different at least.
if nothing shows different on full throttle repeat at part throttle where you know issue happens(harder to repeat in other car, exact same pedal position)

at the moment im assuming leaky vapour trap leading to low maf value which ecu will reduce fuel quantity to try to keep smoke down from lambda map but really you have enough air and end up running very weak.

Where and how is your part 9 broken ?
I can measure the airbox hole for you in a bit
image.jpg
Outside diameter approx 82.5mm
Inside diameter approx 76mm
Cant confirm hole sizes are all same in airboxs, this one was off an 115hp
Also from memory that part 9 on my car is moulded with a pinch shape to go around the battery tray, can you squeeze that pipe in same place ( make oval)

I would take a photo and make it easier to show you but wife has got my car for work!

Anyway it's the tube that attaches to the back of the front grill and is connected to what looks like a flexi pipe that comes from the air filter box. Mine has been cut and not neatly so its not connected to the grill, its just sat there.

I say part 9 because when I asked Fiat that's the part they referred too.

If a photo will make it easier I will take one later.

If the same part as my car, that pipe is quite a stiff moulded rubber or a fairly soft moulded plastic.
Originally i think it clips into the slam panel somehow (tabs maybe) by the small square cut out.
If it can be taped or bonded or cable tied back near original position.
If the opening is still facing front of car near that opening, it will still be breathing air near outside ambient temps once on the move.

Yes that sounds the one! So that isn't part 9 in the diagram?

View from bay without battery.

YES that's it (y). Well at least Fiat have got something right, when I asked for a vapour trap they quoted me for a vacuum pump  They didn't tell me it came with the air filter box. However that doesn't matter know because I'm going to use a bottle for that!

You know your stuff sussexa :)

Thanks

Here closest to standard pic of inlet into that pipe(actually during opening it up a bit)

I only know stuff i have worked on, and always will help out with anything i can.
Plus i have loads of photos of bits so it helps someone someday.

ive never had mine off.
see if you can get your old broken one out without removing battery/tray.
I think it fits in the airbox via a sleeve cant remember if internal or external bit slips on or slips in so would require a straight lift vertically to clear the airbox.
but your right it looks very awkward to fit/remove with battery and tray in, but you never know, that crease around the tray may be there to let it be fitted removed easily ?

The new part I have received has a smaller diameter than my old one, it is definitely right because I checked the part numbers plus it's exactly the same as yours. I think the old pipe wasn't the right one anyway and it wasn't really fitted, it was more or less resting on the airbox sleeve. Sussexa, can you do me a favour please mate and check your intake pipe and let me know whether the pipe fits into or around the flexi sleeve that comes off the airbox?

Thanks

Phil

not till its sunnier (n)
I just measure the spare half I have though, approx. 76mm inside and 82mm outside.
if you measure yours you can quickly work out?
also there are 2 slots that look like some sort of plastic clips may form a catch if you have those in your new part the design of the clips will also help show if its inside or out.
