Can anyone help with regards to what gearboxes will fit a mk2 uno turbo with a top mount change?

Ive been looking everywhere and getting conflicting things..

Not too bothered about ratios as long as its ok on the motorway and has 5 gears.

Thought maybe the punto GT gearbox would be a contender, however not seen one to be able to compare.

If not, does anyone know anywhere to buy a recon or have mine reconditioned, as its stuck in gear solid and wont move unless the clutch is pressed firmly to the floor. Ive removed the selectors and fiddled about but with no joy :(

Cheers

Punto ELX90 also has a 514 box (same as all Puntos) but with bellhousing to mate with 1581 sohc engine, which is related to 128-type Uno engines. And surely the 1581 and derivatives went into many later Fiats, with 514 box, not just Punto GT? I have a good ELX90 one spare, c/w nearly new clutch, which I might be persuaded to part with (Devon).

You'd use mount bracket(s) and driveshafts from a mk.2 FIRE engined Uno.

Thanks for the info!

Im looking for something gearbox wise that will mate up, but not change the driveshaft length at all due to it not being in a uno, and currently having expensive custom driveshafts. It looks like my car had a top bar selector set up (which on mine has been converted to use cables).

Im really struggling to find boxes that are externally the same as the UT mk2.

Can I ask why you need to change the driveshafts if using the elx90, is it a case of just the inner cv's or is it down to a length issue? Mounts and brackets can be custom made so that's not a prob, its just the shaft issue.

but seems that's wrong cos
all the mk1 mk2 uno turbo and punto gt use the same gearboxes
meaning the 510.

For sure the Punto ELX90 does have the 514 mated to 128/Uno-type 1581 block, but maybe that's unique. What about 1581s in later Fiats - did they have Fire-type 514, or Uno-type 510 boxes?

because the ELX90's is a 514 box, requiring mount brackets and driveshafts from a Fire-engine/514-box Uno - your 510-box brackets and driveshafts won't fit the 514.

Ahh, thanks..

Think im going down the route of a PGT box now as I can get a cable selector version, and should only need to change the hydraulic fork & arm to a cable one (using parts from my box)..

Cheers for your help :)

Checked http://www.automobile-catalog.com and the Stillo at least has the Fire-type 514 box mated to its 1596 128/Uno-type block. So the Punto ELX90 isn't unique.
