today i was leaving with my gf in my car and there is road that people park one side of so only 1 car can get down, you no the sort.

so me and this car met in the middle some were, so being the kind person i am  i reversed so he could get through but as i was doing so *BANG* i reversed into a parked car :bang: just a compleat lap of concentration!

So the owner comes out of his house and askes for my details bla bla bla.

His car is a old dented scratched white fiesta van thing and is a company car. i hit the black plastic bumper, wich did nothing but bent in a small part of the corner of the bonit, just over the light. I gave him my address and registration (he livs just down the road from me any way) and he said " ye its a company van they probably wont do anything, ill take your details to please my company"

This is what i need to no:

1) does it sound likely the company will clame on my insurance?

2)if they do what affect will that have on my insurance? what usuly happens?

cheers guys

Tom

looks to me to be some sort of building company lol big dent on the side scrached so on, so this is why i am staying hopfull :p

I guess the outcome from the company will determine a lot of things.

If they go get it repaired if its battered it could easily get written off, but the company may choose to repair damage themselves and not claim (I nearly did that with the Marea that's been written off).

Id get in contact with the company and see what theyre gonna do, but don't pay anything yourself!

As for premium impact - due to my claim my premium went up by 15% (but I have 5yrs NCD). Depending on how your car's covered will determine whether the insurers will pay for repair or total loss of yours assuming you decide to claim for the damage.

Probably not as the van will probably be written off (did it look like it was worth anything)

It will count as a claim against you I think so you'll lose any NCB.

it wasent that old and it was defenteltly wasent a rite off lol i came at it on a angel so it dident hit the whole front it clipped the corner

All depends upon what its worth, if its battered up its worth less! And you'd be surprised how easily vehicals are written off with the cost of new parts and labour at £75+ PH.

it looks like a sort of 2.5k van so not like its falling apart! it just had dings hear and there

the bend is litruly 3x3 cm's small on the corner of the bonit i must of hit the car at about 5mph so its not like a big crash, very minor

I bashed a woman in sainsbury's car park, she drove up behind me as i was reversing out...she wanted my details and was driving a bashed up G reg citreon.

I told her no  and said i would give her my phone number and arrange repairs through a mates garage...I was going to go round in the middle of the night and remove the 3mm of yellow paint lol, but i didn't.

She called me and i had already booked her car into my mates garage, she never turned up and I never heard from her again :D

But maybe he just wants to clear the damage with his boss, so he dont get the hassle from it.
Maybe you should go round and ask him if you could sort repairs or if his boss could call you before phoning insurance company...just tell him its not worth your N/C or your excess (y)

Whats you excess? I was just wondering what the price of a new bonnet is? Just buy a new one for them and fit it, not that hard to fit, probably be cheaper than you excess (assuming its around £250 - £300 like my young driver excess is).

or even get a bonnet from the scrappie, because it can be off of just a normal Fiesta.

i wouldn't say its as extreme as replacing the bonnet but i shall keep that in mind, im guna try and go round see whats happnin at some point

GO and get photos of the damage some people have the balls to claim for more than you actually did photo the van and your car's dammage to help protect yourself should they try and claim for a new front end side and boot (a chap tried this on my old man a good few years ago (my old man took pictures at the time) the chap wound up getting done for insurance fraud

Don't for get its your excess plus the extra it will cost you on renewal next year!

And a little recomendation to all as mentioned above, always carry a disposible camera in the car! It was a god send when I had some dippy moo in her Corsa go into the back of me!

I plan on using my phone 3.1
adding a camera is asking for it

I would use the 5 MP on my N95, but you could be accused of editing the pics, a bit hard with a 35mm disposible though. lol.

and tozzleozzle is your excess before or after the young driver excess? seems a bit cheap for a 18 Y.O, although I might be wrong, lol.
