peved off with myself!

I bashed a woman in sainsbury's car park, she drove up behind me as i was reversing out...she wanted my details and was driving a bashed up G reg citreon.I told her no  and said i would give her my phone number and arrange repairs through a mates garage

Thats a bit naughty! Whether you like it or not, whether you can repair it for her or not, if she asked for your details you are obliged by law to give them!

I would use the 5 MP on my N95, but you could be accused of editing the pics, a bit hard with a 35mm disposible though. lol.

and tozzleozzle is your excess before or after the young driver excess? seems a bit cheap for a 18 Y.O, although I might be wrong, lol.

just had a quick check and ye its only 135 :)

:yeahthat:

my mate and me were involved in a 3 car serious accident a few years ago (not out fault) we filmed the aftermath on his (at the time flashy) mobile phone

I got caught out with the excesses because you have a voluntary and a compulsory, i used to have a voluntary of 250, and a compulsory of 250 however they hide the compulsory in the small print so if you dont read it you wont see it.

my insurance aint as cheakey lol its £135 compulsory and there is no option of a volintery

But debatable who's fault it was...I was reversing into a clear area..she drove up behind me...she could have stopped, she didn't. (she wanted my parking space) There was litrally 1mm x 3mm of yellow paint on a bashed up knackered car apart from that, you could never have seen that we had touched and it took a good few minutes to find the said paint mark....if it didnt mark my plastic bumper, its hardly gonna cause her any damage.

I did give her my details...name address and phone number, I just didn't/wouldn't give her my insurance company name...tbh if it was anyone else they would have told her to shut up and driven off...i didnt.

And paying £50 excess, loosing no claims and upping my insurance for the sake of a rub of t-cut on a rotten car...is taking the pee a bit really huh.

Totally agree with you. And you didn't break the law. You gave her your details! Its for her insurance company to find out who insures you!

bit of a further question to follow this on,

Can the other person make a clame on my insurance if he doesn't have my policy number or name of insurance company????

yep all they need is either your Address and a brief description of the car (a small green one would do) or your reg number

my sister had a bump and only got the womans address :bang: but the insurance used that and my sisters "a small green one" discription was more than enough for them to go hunting

Law says ...

If you have an accident that causes damage or injury to any other person, vehicle, animal or property, you must give both your own and the vehicle owner's name and address, along with the registration number of the vehicle, to anyone having reasonable grounds for requiring them. (this has to be on a public highway, which includes supermarket car parks or any place to which the public would generally have access)

If you don't give your details then you should report the accident to the police as soon as possible within 24 hours.

You must also report the accident to your insurer, even if you're not intending to make a claim.

If you fail to comply with that, then technically you are breaking the law. And just to clear it up, the bit about animals does not include ALL animals like squirrels, it only includes.

Mules, Pig, Dogs, Sheep, Horse, Ass, Goat, Cattle

Thats the law, i'm not saying i always follow it, but its helpful to know it.

How soon do you need to notify insurance even if no claim is to be made? Some woman in a 4x4 hit me on Tuesday night (skuff on my car, skuff on hers) but she claimed it was my fault even though she cut into my lane, anyways, I said I wasn't going to bother claiming cos it would be a **** take (t-cut will do the job skuff) and she said she'd see in the morning if her car looks worse?!?

Anyways she said she'd call me, but hasnt. Should I notify insurance even though I don't plan to claim?

I've applied for some CCTV footage (It was in the middle of Norwich town centre) to back up the fact she hit me rather than otherway round incase she tries claiming on my insurance.
