Hi
This is my first post and i am not that knowledgable about cars so sorry if my questions are stupid!

Just wondering whether having a personalised reg would affect my insurance? Im thinking it wouldnt but just to double check before i buy one to put on my lovely fiat punto!

Another thing, what about my tax? Obviously the tax disc has my reg written on it, so would i have to buy new tax or could i just get the tax disc replaced with the new reg on it?

Thanks

When I got my private reg it didn't affect my insurance atall. (y)

Also when I went to the dvla office to sort out the tranfer of my plate I handed in my tax disc and was given a new one with the new reg. still only had 4 months on it tho. :(

You can get it changed on the day at a dvla office or do it by post using relevant forms

They will just print you out a tax disc with new reg on it. Also if car has mot certificate they change reg on that too

My plate affected my insurance. The robbing gits charged me £25 for admin

I think you can't steal a registration number, just 'clone' them. The only bit that can be stolen is the plastic bit attached to the front and back of your car. If your insurance excess is £150 you don't make a claim for damaged or stolen number plates, you go to Halfords and replace them. The registration is yours because the DVLA have recorded it against your name, address and vehicle.

Thats my theory:D
