Hi all :)

i see on ebay you can purchase genuine fiat parking sensor kits
is it that simple plug and play? does the car need any adaption to the loom itself or all the plugs available already?

wiring is no issue i am a electrician but dont want to buy a kit that needs a fiat diag system to enable it when a non oem kit is far simpler to install :)

i have included a link for the item itself

many thanks

To be honest, the £13-fleabay specials are more than adequate. And you can paint them for another few quids worth of paint. Saying that, I got a set that looked almost the same colour as my car, and with the dirt - you can hardly tell the difference :D

I might get around to touching them up at some point lol

One wire to earth, one wire to a reverse light. Some have an optional radio mute, but I'd find that annoying and means running a wire an aweful long way. The bumper cover on many cars that had factory sensors will have markings on the inside of where to drill. Removing/ replacing the bumper cover is the hardest part. I'm just doing my VW and I'd say allow about 4 hours to do it right/ carefully. Of course while I was in there I decided to pressure wash everything and then found some steel brakets to replace with aluminium :D

I'm sure someone on here or another forum (which deals with the models beginning with A only......) took their back bumper off and found the plug for parking sensors there, not sure if they would need enabling in the body computer though.

How topical !!!

Having the factory kit being fitted on Wednesday. Looked at the instructions and looked not too difficult - but having said that I am getting them fitted professionally

Did you source your kit from eBay or elsewhere? Are the instructions also OEM or are written by the seller?

I have a TA Lounge on order. When it turns up I am keen to retrofit the factory kit and have them integrate with the new instrument cluster. As OP alluded to, it looks like it will require coding with a diagnostic interface cable and something like multiecuscan software. Multiecuscan has the Valio parking control module listed under Fiat 500. Explanation on what to do is over in the Croma section. I guess it would be the same. Or get fiat dealer to do a Proxy align with their kit. OTOH they may just work once plugged in.

Hi how did you get on with it buddy all working good?
i am waiting on body shop who is going to repaint the bumper to fit and paint sensors :)

Can someone tell me where the parking sensor control module is located in the car. I am interested to see which part is getting fitted to to the latest build cars so I can replicate a factory install.

I had a set fitted to my TA Lounge (BNW), and they came already colour coded. However after a couple of months the white paint started to flake showing the black plastic rim on each sensor. I kept touching up with the appropriate paint plus lacquer coating, but it never lasted long. So finally stripped the paint off and left the sensors black.
