General Pandas in film

Inspired by homeward s sterling efforts I thought I'd have a go with Val Doonican's Means by no means.

hope you like it:

Panda for sale or rent, Petrol to burn 130 pence
no Brakes, no Locks, no P.S., i ain't got no ABS
ah but two hours of rubbing down
Then I can spray it VIP brown
I'm a man of means by no means,
king of the road

Two inner sills rusting through, painting them Sisley blue
old worn out disc and shoe, The boot floor is rusting through
It smokes when I put my foot down
Bottoms out over rough ground
I'm a man of means by no means,
king of the road

I know every mechanic in every town
All of the parts and all of their names
e-bay supplies most of my needs
next day delivery means the Panda always runs
I sing...

Panda for sale or rent, Petrol to burn 130 pence
no Brakes, no Locks, no PS, i ain't got no ABS
ah but two hours of rubbing down
Then I can spray it VIP brown
I'm a man of means by no means,
king of the road

Very good but who is she? I guess she's a singer from your youth in the roaring '20's?? :p

Cheeky bugger, for those of you of limited age, Val Doonican was an Irish Light Entertainment Artist who had his own shows back before time began. A contemporary of Rolf Harris without the prefrences

Apparently he lives in Bucks. As do most of the celebrities it seems.

Of course this is a welcome contrast to the above mentioned contemporary, who recently moved to Oxfordshire I believe (HMP Bullingdon)!

Look what you've started homeward :bang: :nono:

This is another of Mr Doonican's songs which needed little modification to become dragonman 's song (Sorry John but you sprang to mind when I needed a name to replace McCafferty)

Dragonman’s Motor Car

Now Dragonmans Panda motor car is the greatest I declare
It's made up of bits and pieces that he's picked up here and there
The engine must be ages old, but it's still got lots of power
With a gallon of terps in the petrol tank it does ninety miles an hour

What a wonderful Panda car, it's the greatest ever seen
It used to be black as me father's hat, now it's forty shades of green
On TV and the radio and in every public bar
The burning question of the day is Dragonman's motor car

Now two of the wheels are Alloys and the third one's made of Steel
The fourth is a bearing from a jet he’s using as a wheel
The number plate it's plastic and the plug's won't even spark
And the chassis’ made of anything that can withstand an arc

Now go for a ride in that Panda car and you'll end up with the shakes
The roads he has to drive on is full of holes and lakes
When traffic lights turn red ahead, then you'd best jump out the door
For the moment that John treads on the brake, then his foot goes through the floor

What a wonderful Panda car, it's the greatest ever seen
It used to be black as me father's hat, now it's forty shades of green
On TV and the radio and in every public bar
The burning question of the day is Dragonman's motor car

Now if you could see the upholstery, then your eyes would start to pop
It's nothing but empty beer crates with a load of sacks on top
The windscreen's gone to Lord knows where and there's mothballs in the horn
And I reckon he'd only get half a quid if he took it to the pawn

Now John was driving around last week when the engine did the splits
It went up in smoke and nearly blew O'Connell Street to bits
They searched around for John and found that he'd landed up by heck
Away on top of the GPO with his L-plates round his neck

What a wonderful Panda car, it's the greatest ever seen
It used to be black as me father's hat, now it's forty shades of green
On TV and the radio and in every public bar
The burning question of the day is Dragonman’s motor car

We did have a poetry thread at some stage....

I wonder if other sections have threads like these...? :ROFLMAO:

Just recorded 500 Miles, it was hard not to laugh while recording it, you write these things so phonetically well!! I really like it, its uploading now will post it when its uploaded. Still trying to find a decent instrumental for letter from america.

By the way its a lot harder than I thought to sing in my natural accent, I sound like I am "Impersonating" a scottish accent if that makes any sense?

I know what you mean. I always sound like Lou Reed, for some reason....

Cracking last phrase, by the way...! :worship:
