Hi Guys,
We've got an old Fiat Panda 45 lying around in the garden and before it becomes part of the fauna the brothers in law and I (all with petrol in the vains) had an idea about making a racing car out of it. The car is in Germany near Koln and we're looking at doing slalom, rallying and going on the 'Ring with it. Now most people would think we are certifiable but we just want to have a laugh. So now having revealed our plan we have actually no idea where we can source parts, if there ever was a rally "Classic" Panda and any sources of information that would be helpful. So please reply to the thread and we'll reward you with no doubt some amusing pictures of a full on Panda race car!:D

Hi there,

Rally panda sounds like an awesome idea! Only think I would say is, it sounds like you have yourself a rare mk1 (pre 86) if its a 45. Might be someone on here who would buy it off you, then you could buy a newer 2wd. Thats just my opinion anyway. And to be honest, if your doing it with the intension of keeping it rather than a once off rally then abandon it kind of thing, then I give you my full suport. After all, cars are meant to be used and loved! Mine is a rare one, but I have no intension to sell so i have had a bit of fun with her. :D

Also, the 2wd panda was rallied ( i think mainly the seat panda - later called the marbella in the early/mid 80's). So you should have some success! Good luck with the project!! (y)

They raced the Panda! Sounds like an idea I had at the back of my head but never thought they actually did it for real (even if it was Seat that did it).

I can't be of much help to you, though you have my full respect! Look forward to seeing the progress :p

If this Panda is in Germany, contact with german panda freaks at http://www.iphpbb3.com/forum/portal.php?nxu=57860722nx58 There is rally Panda Mk. 2 in Germany, I'e seen her on youtube.

Sutjeska

BTW: there was a Radbourne-tuned Mk. 1 Panda in GB in early 80's, with 1050 engine and 70 HP. I have a test of it in old "Motor".

Although I've had these saved for a while possibly the 1985 paris-dakar? they are Mk1's but with a front grille

Martini Racing had raced a Panda. I was involved with the one of team pandamonium and know of another one that was used for hillclimb.

I have a Panda (1989) that is not ready for the track, yet but spend so far 700 hours of preparation. Girola made the cage for it.

I don't know enough about the 45, but the later one with the Omega axle is great for racing.
