Good evening team Panda! I must once more call for help. On my way back from the Peak district earlier this year my headlights failed after dipping for an oncoming car...round a bend! Surviving that I just used the car daytime only but days are getting a bit short and all my attempts at repair have failed!

So the issue summary:

- Going from main beam to dip the lights turn off.
- Jiggling the headlight stalk helps get the light back on but does tend to turn off with time / vibrations from driving around
- Having taken it off and cleaning (literally with soap - thinking here that Moroccan dirt had caused some issues) and then re-lubed with WD40. Issue is better and headlights seem to stay on now but jiggling still makes lights turn off.

So, is this a failure mode people are aware of? Can they be repaired? Or am I going to have to buy a new one? Bit of a shame if got to repair it as this one even has a working indicator cancellation thingy.

Thanks in advance for any assistance

hmm i'd just replace. if you have already had the whole thing to bits to fix it, i dont think theres much else you can do.

did you file/sand down the little pads a bit on the metal contacts?

you can try and bend them too.. just dont loose them :/
copper slip helps over WD-40... when does it not? :D
the stalks from off a fiat cinq fit too.. and the Yugo 45.. ;)

I'll double check the contacts but if was them would have thought the jiggling around of the stalk would not help.

I did also have a "spare" binnacle but that turned out to also be broken

Will post up the answer as and when it is found...Thanks for thoughts so far :slayer:

Had the exact same issue with my 4x4, however it has had a hard life and 200k on the clock. Not all the stalks interchange directly even though they look the same and fir the column - some of the connections in the multiplugs differ.
