Technical Panda camping help thread!!

Hello all,

If I bring my radio and cd changer along is there any chance anyone could have a peek and give me a rough idea of how to plumb the bloody thing in?

Electrical stuff gives me the heebie jeebies!! (and I haven't got a clue what I'm doing!!)

I had a feeling this might happen. We've already packed the electrical tool box ready for Panda camp. lol.

Will fit it in for you if you want. Shouldn't take to long. Have you a blank ISO connector with it?

What's a blank ISO connector then ... Like I alluded to I don't know s**t!!! Pretty embarassing really for someone who cosiders themselves fairly practical!

Can I get one from my motor factors? If so I'll sort one in time for the meet... anything else I might need? Cable etc...

I don't know if my speakers are knackered or not... how do I test them? and if they are can I replace the ones in the Panda dash units?

Questions questions questions........ I think I know someone who has the answers tho!! :slayer:

You should be able to get one from a motor factors or Halfords do them.

Have you already got a radio in? If so you will probably have an ISO block already in unless the radio is really old.

I'm guessing one of them plugs into the radio and the wires connect to the spaghetti coming out of the dash?

Yep, your stereo should come with the other end to those connectors and then you just need to find out what wire does what in your dash and connect them up to the matching wire on the blank iso.

:yeahthat: only if after market unit fitted though. Fiat units that came with Panda's never had ISO connectors. So I doubt it's got them.

Correct. You'll get them in a pair like pictured. One block does power etc for the unit, and the other does the speakers

Luke if the speakers are US'ed you won't know until the system is wired up. The speakers in the front pod are changeable. Just unscrew the 4 screws holding the grill over them.

Can get a cheap set for about £12 in halfrauds etc. Dad's Selecta has only a cheap system and speakers in, but there is something about it in the Panda that makes it work.

Maybe its the fact that I know when I get back in the Stilo I've a bigger speaker waiting

Way to check if you need an ISO connector is to remove current HU and take a pic of the bit where the wires go in, and upload and I'll confirm for you

That adaptor is for the Panda, I used one, think Craig did aswell, the two black connectors in the dash plug straight into it. You still have to do the speakers like you would with a blank ISO though

I could take a picture but in this case a few words will suffice: I've got a gaping hole in the dash left when the tykes that tried to nick the car about 4 months before I got it stole the (non-functioning HA HA!!) stereo... This was 2 summers ago and all that remains are 4 wires of varoius colours that make sparks when the wrong ones come into contact with each other...

I'll get an ISO connector and a load of cider...

Just finished modding the Selecta ready for the meet. Rear bumper changed for one with parking sensors off of the wrecked Selecta, grille with lights in on and wired in, some interior trim bits added

First of all I would fit a tow bar and pull another Panda behind as a spare, rather than worrying about the cosmetics.

Why the reversing sensors?

Is it in case gears number 1 to 5 pack up and you have to use reverse all the way back to Ipswich.
