Panda 2012+ Panda 2012 Trekking 0.9T Twinair

Introduction

Finally sorted a members motors thread for my baby. As in love with it now as I was when bought months ago :D

Just a few pics of it on its epic Scottish road trip, which it was the star of. Much to the girlfriends annoyance, the majority of photos of the breathtaking landscape feature (or are even focussed on ) the panda!

Very nice (and very clean lol!).

How did you get on with the Scottish terrain? Any issues? I'd love to hear more about the Trekking's abilities off-road. :)

Thank you, I can assure you it is not clean at the moment! The picture one from last, shows the car in an extremely bumpy and steep grassy area. Due to constant rain, this was also very slippy. There was not one issue, the ground clearance was adequate, and the Traction+ worked a treat and pulled us back on to the road in the morning with no drama whatsoever. This is by no means a serious off-roading car, but it can cope with a lot more than you would think.

It has also previously taken me round a quarry used by acrobatic dirt bikers for practice, and a couple of unsurfaced tracks local to me. So I'm sure you will find it pleasingly able in whatever you throw at it :)

Thankfully, ON the road, it is also astonishingly good. The ride is amazing, it's refined, has brilliant in cabin storage. It truly is the perfect mini tourer. It may appear sad, but I love the car so much I have even emailed the CEO of FiatGroup to tell him how much. It was such a big part of the trip to Scotland, I feel a bond with the thing now!

That's fantastic to know, thank you! We've only had our Trekking a week and don't currently have plans to put it through as much as you have (rural Suffolk back roads mostly), but I'm very happy to hear it can cope so well. We very nearly bought the 4x4, but I'm now convinced it would have been overkill for us.

It is a lovely drive, isn't it? I'm always thinking up excuses to go out in it, much to my hubby's dismay lol (I don't yet drive myself, so he has to ferry me everywhere). Though I think he secretly enjoys it too! :D

I was a passenger for about half the Scotland trip and like you found it to be lovely. To drive it though is something else entirely. I feel Italian when I drive it haha. In my email to the CEO, I said how I think the Trekking is under represented in Fiats advertising with the 4x4 taking all the limelight. The Trekking would be perfect for so many people and it kind of just gets forgotten about. A true shame for such a well engineered front drive semi-off roader.

Few more pics to spice up my thread:

Photos are in various parts of Scotland, the one in the car park with mysterious me in a hood was on a miserable day in John O'Groats. I really like the one of the gloves drying over the air vents, symbolises the trip quite well weather wise!

Thanks so much for the photos.

It is giving me a taste for getting round Scotland a bit more as I haven't been up there for about three years.

Those photos are bringing back some great memories of various trips I've done in the past, some for business and others for pleasure.

Brilliant photos/scenery, how many miles did you do and mpg ?:)

Did over two thousand miles in total, average mpg for the whole trip was 50. Motorway trips to and from home were very economical getting to near 60mpg on the return trip. The Scottish hills and twisty single lane roads brought the average down slightly, but overall very happy. This wasn't with a light foot either, so the Twinair was used in all its glory.

Thought I'd post a pic of the pooch (Penny) in the Panda. Been to Snettisham beach on the East Coast today and was glad of the (poorly fitting) boot liner. These last 3 weeks I've been on annual leave I have covered more miles in the Trekking than I have in the months of ownership prior! Went to Snowdon on Sunday but somehow forgot to get any pics of the car  Back to work Saturday but not before cleaning the car inside and out tomorrow...
